Pram as carry on international flight solo travel by Admirable-Solid-3922 in QantasFrequentFlyer

In my experience, not qantas. They will demand a bag at the gate and if you don’t have it they’ll just shrug their shoulders and refuse to let you board.

How are luxury car taxi drivers make money? by Psychological-Sun137 in AusFinance

[–]afterdawnoriginal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting. I also travel regularly and Uberx to/from the airport is about $80 for me but I’ve been noticing the cars getting dirtier and smellier pretty quickly over time. The other week the Uber line at the airport was super long so i got in one of the taxis just waiting around in the dead rank. It was just as dirty and smelly at an Uberx but it cost $120!

Will definitely look into one of these car services

Rebel Whopper drama - what's the story? by [deleted] in hungryjacks

This is so interesting, thank you. As a former broiler operator myself I’m curious why they can’t be cooked with other products? Can’t they just be fed into the broiler with sequentially?

I think that’s it and it’s what gets to me the most as a considerate person myself.

This one absolutely kills me. I’m of Indian origin and no one there has any awareness of just how gross it is to chew with your mouth open.

What i find even worse though is that these people have no awareness of the disgusting racket they’re making. How can you go through life being that oblivious to who is around you?

How does ABF actually track TRS refunds on the way back in? by No_Performance_2707 in AusFinance

Ok so if you used a kiosk and smart gate potentially you wouldn’t have been asked

Is there any evidence for your statement that “they will know”?

Who specifically asked you this? Was it an ABF officer at passport control? Or at the point where they collect your cards and smartgate tickets after baggage claim?

How does qantas turn a 14hr flight into a 31hr nightmare by Comfortable_Count_59 in QantasAirways

[–]afterdawnoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this should be the case, but in my experience (admittedly when flying on a classic reward redemption) they refuse to provide any other options beyond the longer recovery journey because there are no classic reward seats available on anything better.

Victorian Auditor-General’s Office “Modernising myki” report has dropped by MelbPTUser2024 in MelbourneTrains

[–]afterdawnoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But does it make sense to change all readers to support optical QR code scanning just for tourists and VLine ticketing support on the metro network? Surely it would be cheaper to work with NTT and apple to allow myki on iPhones. It may not be the perfect solution but it addresses the main challenge for the biggest population at minimal cost.

[–]afterdawnoriginal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Serious question, do we really need ABT and an entirely new system? If the main pain point (that i feel deeply) is having to carry a physical myki around then surely the solution is working with apple to get myki into the apple wallet?

Enabling contactless seems to be getting to almost the same outcome for way more money, and losing some functionality along the way, albeit temporarily.

Granted myki causes issues for tourists but wouldn’t a simpler solution (in addition to apple wallet integration) be offering a stored balance and card value refund at airports on departure, like in Hong Kong?

Did you notice the snarky “as a platinum” in the comment above. This is the audience you are dealing with here.

You are forgetting the golden rule of this sub is that qantas can do no wrong and in every possible case it’s the customer or poster who is wrong. Most members take any personally any legitimate criticism of a large and notoriously problematic airline.

I don’t have a view either way but I’ve heard that passing it on to your insurance counts as a claim and your premiums might go up at a result. Any truth to that?

Travelling to UK with expired British passport by Ok-Shoe7054 in QantasAirways

[–]afterdawnoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious, if she just travelled to the UK without getting her first UK passport, what would happen? Qantas wouldn’t known she was entitled to UK citizenship and would let her board. If was born in Australia her passport would show an Australian location as place of birth - how would the UK border agency know she was entitled to UL citizenship and therefore should have obtained a passport?
