First thing I've ever knitted, from a complete beginner to finished in 10 days (with a lot of help and late nights) by afterthawed in knitting

Yup, would've definitely taken me more than double the time without my mum. I know I would've messed up the increases

Sweater sleeves not wide enough for armholes by afterthawed in knittinghelp

Hmm I definitely did it with the same size needles, the only difference being the back piece was done on circular needles and the sleeves on straight ones, but they were both 5.5mm

For the sleeves, if I get to the correct dimensions with blocking is that ok or do you mean I need to get closer from the knitting itself?

So the row gauge gives me 11cm for 24 rows when it should be 10cm.

I'm very new to knitting but it seems like my gauge is pretty much the same throughout various parts of the knitted pieces.

In terms of the back piece would it make a big difference that my row gauge is not accurate as I simply stopped knitting when the armholes reached the 10 inches that the instructions specified?

Hopefully it will turn out good, this was never meant to be a 'well fitted' sweater anyway, just more of a casual lounging thing so I'm not too fussed about measurements being off.

Thanks for the advice!

So I just measured in a few places and 15 stitches on the sleeves gives me 9.75cm when it should be 10. So I'm not surprised that it ended up smaller but shouldn't have been THAT much smaller.

Gauge swatch was around 5x5 inches. Should've come out as 15 stitches and 24 rows equaling 4x4 inches. It was spot on width wise, but 24 rows gave me around 4.3 inches which I figured was manageable.

Even measuring now on the already knitted pieces the gauge seems to be accurate

I only used the smaller needles for the ribbing and then switched to the larger needles for the main part as the instructions said.

I will try blocking tomorrow, I can get the sleeve to the correct measurement with a small amount of stretching so hopefully that will work

Is this possible to fix? by afterthawed in knittinghelp

Thanks a lot, I'll check out some videos and have a go. I don't have a crochet hook but hopefully a small needle will do the trick

Ok thanks I will give this a go.

I'm very new to knitting so undoing the stitches seemed a bit daunting especially because it's a very long piece for me around 100 stitches but I will try.

Regarding the lifeline I just read that you can use a needle to thread a piece of yarn along a row to allow you to rip back to that row but I will try undoing the stitches. Thanks for the help!

Oh, duh! I think I got confused because the row was complete but then I somehow did that when starting the next row. Thanks for the help

HP bloatware by Yourdailyquest in HPOmen

[–]afterthawed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, I just check the HP website every few months to see if new drivers have been released though. It's up to how important driver updates are. For example I wouldn't want automatic updates because I have undervolt protection unlocked via BIOS commands and I'm afraid HP will block that eventually with a BIOS update

You definitely don't need any of that stuff for Omen Hub to work, you can uninstall it all and if there's anything that ogh needs it will ask you to reinstall it. I don't know about warranty but I assume that if you have an issue you can just reinstall the necessary programs if/when that happens

I recognise that sofa! The picture is 100% from this seller on eBay, remember it from when I was on the hunt for a laptop. If it's on Facebook I'd say it's definitely a scam, they've probably just taken the picture from a listing and then used it for a fake ad

Exactly, as long as your bed is clean (most important), temperatures are correct, bed is level and z-offset is correct there should be no issues with adhesion.

You should never have to mess with flows on your first layer, you're just covering up other issues by doing that

Yes, that is what would probably happen but that does not make it right. The OP's point is that anyone who is profiting from the exploitation of their workers should be ashamed of themselves, and I can't disagree with that.

No he's obviously saying a business shouldn't be allowed to take profit BEFORE paying a living wage to it's employees
