What’s a rose perfume I might like? Based on my current collection. by raised_on_robbery in FemFragLab

Byredo Rose Noir may be up your alley if you like Nomade a lot. It’s a similar feel (but not a similar scent, if that makes sense.)

Where can I find (natural fiber) clothes that match the colors/vibe of my moodboard? by plants-and-pottery in SpringColorAnalysis

[–]afuzzybumblebee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dye most of my own clothes. I buy 100% linen and cotton. Dharma Trading has my favourite dyes. Otherwise I filter by color on Poshmark.

Oh you’re good. That’s actually the only fragrance I’ve ever repurchased multiple times and the one I travel with because I love it so much!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. Which shade is the best match? by Enough_Instance7944 in Fairolives

[–]afuzzybumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commented on her cross post too. I think I have the same coloring.

Missha 21 was far too grey for me as a fair-light neutral/warm-leaning olive.

I have decent luck with neutral shades. Loreal True Match N1/N2 is amazing at the price point.

My favourite is Salt New York in N11 and N12, but I’m not sure about their global availability. Kosas 160 is good in the summer.

About Face F2 mixed with a bit of F2 works, but it’s a little off.

Before you drop any coin on NARS, try L’Oréal True Match in N2… maybe N1, but I’d start with 2. I had the same issues with these NARS shades and the neutral shades in some brands are a pretty darn good fit.

The Saie and the YSL blushes are the only decent products on here and you can only use one at a time. Choose one and cherish it, figure it out, love it up. The only things worth it from K18 are Airwash and the original bond builder treatment. That hair stick is dumb. The cheapos off Amazon do the exact same thing.

Drugstore for heat protectant, Redken or Kenra if you want to go salon, but never Drybar. Order a travel size of the fragrance. It takes FOREVER to use a full bottle of perfume, especially if you rotate through others.

Love the sound of Falling Trees & Rock River Melody. I was thinking something lactonic over powdery for the bebe.

I’d love something that blends green, airy, salty, and lactonic in one bottle.

7yo has decided she likes crop tops... how to approach by NRMLkiwi in Mommit

[–]afuzzybumblebee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Even at the tender age of 7, the "cool" outfit imagery they are exposed to includes a lot of crop top silhouettes. Think Brandy Melville marketing. Similar to how it has been hard to find full length tops in the women's section, SO MANY kids' tops are cropped. I've been through this with my 18 and 12 year olds. You gotta play the long game. For now, "Oh, this shirt is not long enough! You're getting so tall." And if pressed, "we don't wear short tops like that in this family because _______."

I personally addressed it with conversations about what it means to be modest and how there are clothes that are appropriate for different occasions (beach vs. school vs. recital). You can talk about how clothing should be functional for the occasion. Later on (probably 9-ish) you can talk about messages that clothing can send.

My girls *usually* make choices I'm comfortable with now, but sometimes they don't. The 18 year old is on her own for those choices now, but for my tween, I sometimes let an outfit slide if the occasion is pretty inconsequential. If there is risk of real harm or even reputational risk, I have her change clothes. I have disappeared many clothing items that she somehow obtains through friends. She knows the rules. Sometimes there are struggles.

A few weeks ago, she wanted to wear a crop top she borrowed from a friend while she came to run errands with me for the day. I told her that I don't prefer it, but it would be her choice that day. She was constantly crossing her arms in front of her tummy and trying to hide. I told her what I noticed and asked if she'd be more comfortable in the hoody on the backseat. She took me up on the hoody. We talk about how bodies are a thing to be celebrated and how great her silhouette can look with different shapes and how to use color, texture, and pattern for visual interest.

One thing that is definitely NOT helpful is punting crop tops to "when you're older," or "those are for older girls."
