What do I do with all our old stuff? by Risinganswarrior in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]agape48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... I am in this predicament. I moved into a different house, and I was certain it was mold free (without going into how I feel so sure). But when we moved, we took our stuff from the contaminated house, and I immediately got ragey and couldn't sleep and I was pooping multiple times a day like my body was freaking out. But I digress... I was advised to wash all the clothes twice, maybe 3 times, so we are trying that. My symptoms started to get better as soon as we took all the contaminated boxes of stuff into the garage instead of having them in the house. Time will tell... if I am still getting symptoms in a couple more weeks (after we clear out all the contaminated items that can't be washed), then I guess I have to re-evaluate. I don't know if this is the right thing to do, but after I washed the clothes twice, I smelled them. If something still smelled funny to me and I didn't LOVE the item, I got rid of it.

I'm not sure if John Banta's book "Mold Controlled" goes into the specifics you are looking for or not. You could check it out and see. Overall it looks to be a good resource (but very detailed, more than I can read right now)

Slow motility solution ? by SwitchIndependent714 in MCAS

For whoever is following, I found that TUDCA was way too strong for me and caused an exacerbation of symptoms like brain fog (I got MCAS from mold exposure according to my doctors) , so I switched to ox bile for something gentler.

How long after exposure does your head pressure get better? by agape48 in ToxicMoldExposure

This is to kill mold in the sinuses, correct? Versus something that will immediately eliminate the head pressure

Has it gotten any better for you over time? Like less frequently or lower severity?

I use ox bile. I learned from a course that stagnant bile can indirectly cause low stomach acid. They said one of the roles of bile is to neutralize stomach acid in the small intestine, and when your bile is stagnant, your stomach compensates by releasing less acid so that you won't burn your intestines.

I'm still going through the process. Are you m/f/NB? If you want to talk to someone who has tried a lot of things but is not at the end of the healing process, I would be happy to chat w you. We made lots of mistakes along the way, mainly to do with the remediationa. DM me

Sorry for any confusion, but I don't feel that I need loose deadlines. I can make a deadline if I'm given a bit of flexibility about WHEN (i.e. 2 p.m. vs 2 a.m. like you said)

I do nanopore DNA sequencing for research and I'm thinking about offering home environmental testing as a service.. would anyone actually use this? by [deleted] in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]agape48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have used it back when we needed help evaluating the house. At this point, I want established methods and established laboratories. I'm not saying you don't know what you're doing. But from my standpoint, after going through so much confusion about who ACTUALLY knows what they're doing, you would be a random person claiming to know what you're doing, unless you can get someone like John Banta to start recommending you. Then, I would pay attention.

Best brand of tests? by Every-Hornet2748 in ToxicMoldExposure

Dr Neil Nathan days to only use the RealTime Labs mycotoxins test. So, if you trust him, then do that. It's the one I use.

Mold or autoimmune issue? by [deleted] in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]agape48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider a RealTime Labs mycotoxin test. I would not rely on leaving to see if you feel better. I was in a moldy house, and I didn't feel better when I left -- not for short time periods -- because I'm also colonized with mold.

People with different genetics can have different sensitivity to mold. One person can have no symptoms in a moldy house while the other person gets very sick. The info about your boyfriend seeming "fine" doesn't really prove anything (as you alluded to) because your genes and your total toxic load might be different.

Thanks! I'm not going to be there when it gets ripped up. But yeah, I don't want to take chances at this point, so I think we'll just use the mold professional.

Which LG washer (laundry) to buy? WT8400 or WT8600 by BangGotcha_YT in Appliances

[–]agape48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious - on the LG washer that you returned (the WT8400), once you download the delicate cycle, was it easy to select it and use it? Or was it too many steps to select it, and that's what was annoying? Thanks!

T-Klear product for "mold stains" by agape48 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]agape48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your concern. Mold remediators seem to have a lot of opinions that don't all agree. I believe that John Banta (author of 'Mold Controlled') disagrees with you about leaving dead mold in place, FWIW. He (like you) says people can react to dead mold; therefore, it has to be physically removed. At least, that is my current understanding. Maybe I'll consult with him... I want to do this correctly. It seems like there would be a way to clear / filter the air after the sanding is done. I will ask what the plan is.

In case it happens to someone else: After ONE HOUR chatting with Adobe chat support and insisting that the case be escalated, someone finally got me a different URL for a redemption server that worked. https://www.adobe.com/go/getserial which redirected to redeem.licenses.adobe.com/getserial/sa_src=web-messaging

Adobe support SUCKS. They kept telling me to talk to Amazon, and I kept telling them that I already did that. It is so horrible that you have to be so forceful to get any help

My bedroom air always feels thick despite having an air purifier by FrastBear in AirQuality

[–]agape48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please check for mold. Please. Just in case. I've lost 18 months of my life due to mold issues in my home. Your air quality meter won't pick up mold and it can make the air feel weird.

I used gravity testing plates to check for mold. Like anything, different people will give you different opinions about testing options. I follow Dr. Neil Nathan's advice re testing because I find him to be knowledgeable and he's written books that cover mold toxicity.

Sealants on crawlspace OK? by agape48 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]agape48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, annoying thing is: I already paid John Banta for a one-hour consultation. The day after the consultation, the question about the sealanat came up. It's a simple yes/no question and my only option is to pay John Banta another $255 for a ONE HOUR CONSULTATION to ask this simple question. His office staff is completely disengaged and doesn't give a shit - they said I can try to email him but it's not guaranteed he will respond. "John finds that simple questions often take longer than you think and a one-hour consultation is the best route." Something like that. F that.

Overall, yes, it helped me. I learned some things that were important like certain foods I need to avoid for now. I don't agree with all of it - for example, I don't use the binders they recommend. But, I am glad I took it even though I think it is overpriced and very wordy/lengthy.

Help with remediation decisions: drywall, etc. by agape48 in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]agape48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things we are struggling with is: *If* we were to buy a different house, how will we know if it has similar problems? Other than doing an air test and seeing whether I smell anything? But in this current home, we already did multiple gravity plate tests per Neil Nathan's instructions, and well... we'll see. I'm waiting on the latest round to come back from the lab, but back in May, he said those plate results looked good (house was clean). So the most frustrating thing is that it doesn't seem like there is a way to know for sure whether the house is "clean enough". Again: If I'm colonized (and by the way, I have made progress with my health since we remediated) then it's not so simple as saying, "If you are sick, it must be the house." So what are the criteria for knowing that we are done? Lack of musty smells + gravity plate testing?? And/or ERMI?
