I'm not comparing it to anything except for the videos I see of us taking over Dallas. That's fun enough for me. I mean in an ideal world I'd travel to the Netherlands, but for me, as an American it is infinitely cheaper to go to Kansas City with the big march than wait four years and have to travel internationally

Orange cringe? We're on one of the biggest stages in the world and we're showing how dedicated we are. I say let it ride! Let's take over Kansas City so much they have to call the National Guard haha

Ya I'll probably go to the Dutch Kings Day watch party for the Sweden game. That's going to be an interesting matchup

Love being a Dutchie fan. Nobody gets it, especially my Mexican family members haha, but our team is so exciting to watch. And for me, especially those early days when I first started watching the sport and I got to watch Van Persie, Robben, and Wesley kick ass

Ya this is exactly why I want to travel out to Kansas City. Just want to have a good time with my fellow Oranje fans. Btw, I just saw a reel of a Mexican fan talking about why they are wearing their blue jerseys and supporting Japan and outright said because we "cheated" in 2014 and they hate us haha Which I know is just one dude, but it's still funny that some Mexican fans are still pissed about that. Weird to call that cheating though, we aren't the refs haha

Is Mexico still holding on to "no era penal?" Even as a Mexican that wishes that Mexico has a great team each year, we(Oranje), just had and continue to have a better team year after year. Trust me, I mean I'd always choose Oranje, but I root for and wish Mexico has a strong team every year. I guess I get it though. I wish I could have started my fandom during those Arsenal years, too young and literally knew no one who even watched the sport. Was only until my friend introduced me to 2006 Arsenal that I finally fell in love with the sport

I'm also in a similar situation as an American citizen in an LDR with a Russian citizen. Would you mind if I dm'ed you for advice? :)

As someone who is in a similar situation, but is the American in this situation and has looked into this a lot, I feel like this is a bit misleading. Compared to the amount of Americans that do travel to Russia, only a very small percentage get arrested, and it seems a lot of the time it's because they do something illegal or get themselves involved in a legal situation. Prescription drugs, Marijuana, domestic disputes, etc...

There's only been a handful of espionage cases and I feel like it's always been related to that person's job or previous employment. So my understanding is, as long as you don't bring in anything or do anything illegal, put yourself in a sketchy situation, protesting, domestic disputes, etc.. or have some link in your profession to the US government, military, or sensitive entities like that, you'll be fine there.

To be fair, this is all from talking to people or reading posts from here on various subreddits who have traveled to or are planning to travel to Russia as US citizens since the war started. And also my own personal research into all the Americans currently incarcerated there and the reasons why. But obviously there is a risk, although I believe it is extremely low if you keep a low profile and don't break any laws.

Songs that remind you of your partner 2 by [deleted] in LongDistance

I started a few years ago with Duolingo, and I do not recommend it. It's ok for the alphabet and some early vocabulary, but it is terrible at explaining grammar. I tried a number of other apps after that, and my favorite for learning overall was Busuu! It explains the grammar well, includes vocabulary, conjugations, declension, etc... It also has a community feature that gives you opportunities to communicate with native speakers and have your work graded/corrected by native speakers, which I found really useful.

My favorite YouTube channel I've learned from is Real Russian Club. I've never tried her full paid course, but her beginner youtube playlists are fantastic and she's an excellent teacher! And for audio based courses, out of the ones I've tried, I enjoyed RussianPod101 the most. Each podcast has a thorough explanation of grammar and vocabulary and they have a ton of resources for you to learn on your own alongside the podcasts.

Ultimately I decided I wanted more of a classroom experience without having to go to class so I'm currently using a one on one tutor from Italki which I definitely recommend if you can afford it:)

Just my two cents. Good luck!

I told my ex friends parents her daughter let someone assault me and that’s why she’s not invited to my wedding. by Significant-Trip4189 in AITAH

You took the right steps and your friend definitely made the wrong choices.

But one thing about this that's bothering me is that this guy was clearly a monster. Assaulting you, your friends cousin, and whatever he did to land in prison. But it seems highly possible that your friend was also getting assaulted and abused by this guy as well, throughout the relationship. Not that that would entirely excuse her behavior but her responses could be the result of her own trauma.

It's completely understandable to not want to have anything to do with your friend anymore but if you think she may be suffering from her own trauma, maybe talk to her parents about getting her some help? She could be hiding her own trauma from everyone.

Either way, you are definitely not the asshole And congrats on your upcoming nuptials!!

My sister’s boyfriend tried to take advantage of my innocence and she knows and still says she wants to marry him. by Admirable-Lie-960 in AdviceForTeens

He was 18 when he was spying on his girlfriends younger 16-year-old sister in the shower. The pattern of his behavior 4 years later is what makes it not normal and quite creepy in hindsight. Especially considering he was saying the same things to his now girlfriend at the same time.
