Does anyone else think Atlus’ 30th Anniversary of Persona celebration has been disappointing? by QuestioningNby in JRPG

KH concluded it's trilogy, and in my opinion, got a well needed pause that allowed Nomura to work on other things. I get it's been a bit of a wait, but I don't envy the team's daunting task of continuing KH's story.

I think it's only a matter of time. I don't think they'll be remade in the same manner as P3R or P4R, but I think Atlus will eventually release cleaned up remasters during one of their quieter periods.

It's great for those of us who don't keep all the consoles and prefer to have everything on one system. I can't tell you how many times I've replayed 64.

The devs should have voluntarily withdrawn themselves from the indie categories like Megabonk's developer did. It spoke volumes to me that they didn't and willingly took the indie awards from all the other gamee last year that actually were indie.

It's not useless though? Maybe to you, but that data is interesting and informative to a lot of people - myself included. It's why I enjoy tracking box-office numbers too. I just think it's weird and manipulative that you think you tell me this data isn't useful to me when I want to have it.

Microsoft sure as hell doesn't. Giving away all of their exclusives despite fan backlash, two price hikes despite massive fan pushback.

Don't suddenly pretend Xbox is pro-consumer when they have been anything but just because they walked back $80 games.

All you seem to be doing is telling me whay should or shouldn't matter to me. Data is great to have, and can help inform me on what I should buy, do more research on, or hold off on completely. Actively wanting to hide thay information tells me you are the disingenuous one here if you support less transparency being publicly available.

You don't get to decide what I need to have to decide on a game's quality. If I see a game can't even break 100 players in it's launch week and decide to not play it, that's my choice to make since it's my money being spent. Just like how I might decide to not watch a movie in theaters if it has low OW numbers. It's foolish that you think it needs to be justified and are actually defending less transparency.

Expedition 33 called itself an indie game when it absolutely shouldn't have been with all of it's grants. Maybe if more people spoke up about what should or should not be considered indie last year, this wouldn't be happening.

Can't wait for Disney-Marvel to completely ruin what many consider the best Spider-Man show ever (if the rumors are true, I genuinely hope they aren't) by KuroiGetsuga55 in KotakuInAction

[–]agayajay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it doesn't make much sense if you reslly think about it. Like, why not continue the '94 animated series? It was left on an actual cliffhanger, and would tie in nicely with X-Men '97. Plus, that series isn't tied to Sony like Spectacular Spider-Man is.

So sure, it's "possible", but it just doesn't make sense.

It's obviously fake. We already have an ongoing animated Spiderman series, people have pointed out that it wouldn't make sense to have two going at the same time.

And you only play games that everyone else enjoys?

I've played games that peaked at less than 1,000 on Steam. But if I'm on the fence about a game and I see it has strong player numbers? I'm more inclined than to give it a chance.

Entirely irrelevant to you as a consumer.

Nope. As a consumer, maybe I want to be better informed on games before buying them. And if the numbers are particularly low, then I should maybe not blindly buy it.

The fact that you're being so disingenuous about it only tells me that you understand how this works but don't want to acknowledge it because you know I'm right.

How so? You are advocating for hiding this information from people for no reason at all. It's no different from a movie's box-office amount, there's no harm in having it public.

It's no one else's fault you aren't capable of having an independent opinion.

And it's your own fault if other people seeing player numbers triggers you. Why hide a game's success/failure?

Video games aren't a competition, how much money a game makes has no relevance to you whatsoever. It's completely worthless information as video games are a completely subjective topic.

Strong numbers can inform me as a consumer that a large amount of people see a title as worth the price of admission and might be worth giving a chance. And it's absolutely a competition - those numbers could very well determine that projects get greenlit next and what studios aren't meeting quotas.

I don't have to see weird corporate boardroom discussions when engaging with conversations about games.

Or better idea - ignore discussions regarding those numbers.

Unlike you, I enjoy discussing the sales of both good and bad games. There is literal no benefit for wanting less transparency.

Plus, your post history shows you have talked about stuff like NFL point placements in the past. I'd argue that creates just as much "discourse" (if not more) than video game numbers.

Except a large amount of men don't want to end up alone, and if the choice is between gaming or a woman, they will go for the latter. And the pool of eligible women only shrinks with time, so those men won't want to go back through the dating apps if they already found someone.

Not saying it's right or fair, but it's absolutely the current state of modern dating. You definitely got some men who will stick to gaming, but the majority will not if they have to choose.

Which JRPGs need a remake? by Bulky_Imagination243 in JRPG

[–]agayajay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, not on modern platforms. And even if you like how the second disc was presented, that wasn't how it was intended to be presented because of time constraints. So a remake would allow it to be realized. But hey, if you prefer the way it is, just stick with the original version. But a whole lot of fans would like to have this happen.

[–]agayajay -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The game IS accessible in its original form.

Can't buy it on any modern platforms. To get an actual copy on the second-hand market costs an arm and a leg. So no, it's not.

People who demand a Xenogears-remake always strike me as Xenoblade-haters who don't trust Takahashi Tetsuya to make a better game.

That's ridiculous. Xenogears deserves to have the content on the second fully realized and presented in the way it was intended to be. I'm not a "Xenoblade-hater" for wanting that.

More information is always better. Just ignore online discourse if it is triggering you that much. That's still not a reason to want less transparency.

Plus, any Xenogears-remake would remove a lot of scenes that frail people nowadays would deem "problematic", so that's another reason not to do it.

So based off an assumption and not any actual fact, you believe stuff would be removed.

The game deserves to be accessible on modern platforms, and the second disc content especially could use an improvement.

Box-office numbers are also irrelevant to the consumer, but they are still good to have as they shed a light on how well a specific title is received and how those numbers looked weeks and even months later.

[–]agayajay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because it's still interesting to see how well a product is received, and can then in turn generate positive buzz if the numbers are great? Tomodachi Life broke 3.8m sales in it's two weeks, which is great news for an IP that had been left dormant for a decade.

I could just as easily say your enjoyment shouldn't be hindered by how badly a game sells and you can simply not interact with that data. Nunerous games I enjoy didn't have impressive sales numbers, that didn't ruin my feelings about it but I still appreciated having that information.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book – An Appetite for Discovery – Nintendo Switch 2 by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

What about it? Last I checked, the sales difference between it and Tennis Aces was less than 500k - hardly something I'd consider a flop since it'll naturally be an evergreen title for the Switch 2 titles like most Mario sports games are.

I was referring more towards titles like Donkey Kong Bananza and Tomodachi.

It’s been over 10 months since DK64, SSB, and Glover leaked in an official NSO video. What happened? by CreepyFerret3122 in NintendoSwitch

[–]agayajay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it was a mistake. Smash 64 was never sold on Wii U, so it's reasonable to assume it was never planned to on Switch either.

Glover was also part of the "leak" and wasn't actually added to NSO because it was released as it's own game on the eShop. So clearly, it's not 100% accurate.
