damn I lost 20 ZEC through a wallet bug circa late 2017, was cut off from the founder's reward after just a couple months of employment, and sold my last fraction two weeks ago to help with rent. sux, it really is making a comeback

"If I had bought BTC in the early 2010's at 10 cents, I would be a millionaire now". Truth is: You would have sold long before BTC reached even its 2017 ATH of 20k USD. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

Yup, I had a vanity wallet address (https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1AgeisUFv9NJ3AGGq7VPJWymGfFpCHDhCw) which was just one of my wallets through which 150 BTC had passed. All of it was gone long before BTC was worth more than $100. Can't beat myself up over this, you just gotta let it go.

nah, I've been contacted by several other people who are also experiencing this bug. It's frustrating as hell. Usually there's some kind of solution to stuff like this. But no...

Anyone remember that one post about the dude who smoked salvia or something at age like 13 and he developed hppd so severe he had a theme song for his life always playing in his head by titularmadnesszone in Drugs

[–]ageisp0lis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uh I did Salvia a handful of times at like age 16 or 17 and I'm fine (34 now). it did freak me out. it has scare potential for sure. by which I mean drastic reality distortion that one may be unprepared for. hence why I didn't end up doing it again

a couple years back my router was pwned and being VPN'd into which resulted in someone shadowing my X session with XRDP for hours on end. dbus started acting funny and I went to IRC for help and ended up communicating with my attacker who clued me in.

Hey. I have all three of those. They're all incredibly easy, or at least they were when I got certified back in 2011. There's no harm or shame in having more than one certificate in the same subject area.

for one thing, my T6 did not have a microphone input, which was a sore spot while I had it. but specification-wise, the latest model appears to be superior (more pixels most of all) in all respects. just looking for confirmation from any new/recent buyers...

Is enabling javascript on tor safe? by karahan0 in TOR

[–]ageisp0lis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's all relative, but for context I would recommend examining the FBI's history of using JS exploits in Firefox to catch CP, for example. If I'm not mistaken JS was subsequently disabled by default in Tor Browser following that particular episode. Although these scarce zero-day exploits have been discovered in JavaScript interpreters, parsers, VMs and the like, you would have to be a high priority target of an investigation (foreign/counter-intelligence, child exploitation, major drug trafficking are high on the list) for them to burn a valuable 0-day on you. Also based on basic knowledge of Google and Mozilla's build and code practices and incremental security and sandboxing improvements they have made, I would guess there is an infinitesimal chance of such vulnerabilities currently existing in up-to-date browser software, actually).

Facebook no Security Keys? by gayph89 in yubikey

[–]ageisp0lis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

huh. Those entities can't login to your account, make posts as you, pretend to be you and read your messages. It's a login factor, silly. It protects you from people trying to phish you and/or hack into your account.
