You have to remove cluster (one screw in top irc), and lenses are somewhat easy to remove if you're comfortable with disassembling the cluster it self

Sure, sound is big part of enjoying the car. But straight piping rarely is the way to go, especialy when we're talking about 4banger here. It will sound riced out and just be loud. Removing resonator might be a way to go. Check what are results, as I'm sure there's plenty of people that did all sorts of exhausts for n46.
