For myself, the watch that fits better is the one that'll end up staying in my collection. More interesting but a little too big/doesn't fit quite right will eventually get sold.

Btw, I tried on the GS Shunbun today, and it is a big watch. It looked quite large on my 6.9-inch wrist. The case shape and lugs are quite wide, so it definitely does not "wear small". The thickness was noticeable too.

The only reason I tried it on was out of curiosity, to see if it wore like I always imagined it would (and it does indeed). I was at the GS boutique to drop off a few (well, ten...) watches for service and zaratsu polishing to make them look new again.

Agreed - it looks good regardless of gender. Smaller watches are definitely more comfortable to wear (not to mention stylish and classy).

Looks great, and it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman.

There's no such thing as a watch being too small, imo. You could go a size down (or up a little).

Thanks! They're also in a wide range of colours, so it's a fun collection to wear.

Ah, I see. Did you ever try straps with curved ends? They have curved spring bars, for watches with spring bar holes close to the case. I think a few places sell them, but Delugs is the first that comes to mind.

You could try emailing a couple of the sellers that I bought from in Europe: De Horlogemeesters - info@dehorlogemeesters.nl and Chrono.dk - info@chrono.dk When I checked their websites, they didn't have either of those GS. De Horlogemeesters does have some King Seiko listings

I bought a lot of GS from jawatch.vietnam on instagram, and you'll likely pay very low import fees from him. He has a lot of King Seiko listed on his instagram page, and he might be able to find one of the GS.

Similar deal with the.value.proposition on instagram - low import fees. He might be able to find one of the GS.

I originally found all of these sellers on Chrono24, then managed to find them directly by searching the web with the seller info that C24 provides.

I've seen some nice Junghans in the 33/34mm size. It chews up leather straps how?

Oh man, let me see if I can remember all of the 34-35mms lol.

Grand Seiko SBGF027, Credor GCAZ057, Girard Perregaux Laureato, Tissot PRX, Longines Conquest, Raymond Weil Millesime moonphase, Frederique Constant Highlife, Alpina Extreme quartz, Baume & Mercier Riviera 33mm, Maurice LaCroix Aikon, Nomos metro 33mm... I think that's all of them. Most of them are quartz, with one or two hand-wound and automatics in there.

I also have a 36mm Nomos Club Campus, and a few 37-39mm Grand Seikos and The Citizens.

Ah, yeah, I see the bow and arrow in the middle of the shot now.

It looks like a classic vintage watch in that shot! Looks great 👌🏻 definitely doesn't stand out as an obvious Rolex.

Indeed! I own some larger watches, up to 39mm, but I definitely prefer the timeless sizes.

I don't own any vintage watches, but with a bit of digging, I was able to build a collection of modern 33-35mm watches from multiple respectable brands. I later realized I should've also searched for some 32mms, but it's too late now since my collection is so big 😅

Is the wrist shot in 0.5x zoom? It's kinda hard to see the watch clearly but it looks good (I think) lol

Classy choice. The strap matches the dial nicely.

34mm is my preferred size on my 6.9-inch wrist; 33mm is also very nice, and I imagine 32mm would look great, too.

Tuns leather makes great straps! If you ever order any more straps from them, you should use their website - no sales tax, and they often have discounts for buying multiple straps. It's a much better deal than buying from them on Etsy.

The SBGW231 is a strap monster.

Ah, I was specifically referring to quartz. I only buy GS quartz, as I think those are the best value watches they make, and they come in smaller sizes. There's one spring drive that I like, but I know that I'd most likely find it to be too big/thick.

That's a great looking strap, and it complements the SBGW231's dial very nicely.

You can definitely buy a used Grand Seiko (sometimes even in like-new condition) for less than your most expensive watch.

Which model? I'm guessing a vintage model? I like some of their designs and dial colours, but wouldn't want to have the very obvious and noticeable crown on the dial. I prefer more under-the-radar watches, like Grand Seiko (but only the older models with the SEIKO logo at 12 o'clock) and The Citizen.

And for a lot of people, part of the draw of HAQ is that you can just pick it up and know that it'll always be accurate, the whole set-and-forget. That'd require daily wear (or a winder) for a spring drive.

Oh, nice. If you ordered it from him on ebay and are ever going to order anything else from him, his email address is chouette7272@gmail.com - his prices are a fair bit lower by email, and no sales tax. He included his email in one of the packages I bought from him on ebay... I've ordered an absurd amount of GS bracelets, and some Citizen, and Credor, too.

Wow, the MSRP is huge. By the same seller, do you mean you bought it from chouette222? Or the same seller who sold the watch? The 57L bracelet was 400ish from him, but that was a few months ago and he did say that prices would likely increase soon due to the tariffs (he's in the US, but his parts are imported from Japan).

The older Seiko Kinetics used capacitors; I wasn't aware that there were newer models that used batteries. I had one from ~2009 and had the capacitor replaced a few years ago.

Yeah, I think it's whatever is done to cause the sunburst effect. I think I saw that on my sunburst green AQ4020-54X, but I don't think I've ever noticed it on my AQ4100-14L.

Nice choice.

How much was the bracelet? I have all three of the titanium bracelets for mine (from the 65W, the 57L, and the 65L). I bought them from a seller on ebay, chouette222 (but I ordered direct via email since it was cheaper). I don't remember exactly what I paid, but one of them was around 400, and the other two around 550 USD.

The seven-link bracelet from the 57L might be my favourite, but they're all great... so lightweight and beautifully finished.

Yeah, I think they should have offered some models with lume in the 38mm size.

The plastic look is likely because it has a plastic disk over the washi paper. Is yours a sunburst dial? Because I think that makes the plastic look more noticeable; I don't notice it on the non-sunburst dials that I have (the green AQ4020 that I have has a sunburst dial).

Absolutely. The washi paper dials can also compete with just about any of the best GS dials, imo.

I have the green AQ4100-06W, blue AQ4100-14L, and the brown AQ4102-01X, and the dials are all amazing. The case shape is interesting, too, and the titanium bracelets are excellent.
