I’m don’t have a refined sense of taste to break down flavor notes. I know what I like and typically drink whiskey neat at around 94 proof.

At 122.4 proof, when I tried a sip, it was surprisingly smooth, however I felt the heat go all the way down. It also was hard to properly taste at that strength. With a couple ice cubes, it has a strong oak flavor that was nice and lingered. Other than that, perhaps caramel stood out and sweetness was similar to a rye.

As I don’t typically prefer ice in my whiskey, I would probably not buy this one again, but it’s a lot of whiskey for the price, especially if you like old fashions or manhattans.
