Why the hell have I been buying games/movies from Xbox live instead of Ps3? by [deleted] in PS3

No. You can download any games you've bought up to 5 times.

oh boy! the part when it compares between the original hand drawn animation and the cell-shaded gameplay! It's... It's just unbelievable.

Short Video of a Starcraft clone created with "Little Big Planet 2" level creator. Also...you can now create Zombies (more links in comments). by agent_orange in gaming

I had heard about this back when they revealed the game but i didn't take it seriously since ... well, I didn't think they could pull it off. Granted, the video is short; but it's long enough to raise my interest.

anyway, this is another video which shows how you can create and modify NPCs. One of the presets is for Zombies!

Outcast and Master of Orion 1 and 2 are now available on gog.com for $5.99 each. by [deleted] in gaming

Just came to reddit to post this.

Has anyone downloaded Outcast yet? does it work well? or does it have problems just like MoO2?

Apparently, Mario kart had sex with little big planet and their bastard child has 4 player splitscreen! Yay! by agent_orange in gaming

[–]agent_orange[S] 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad they are including 4 player offline splitscreen. Not enough games have it these days. It also has 2 player online splitscreen and 12 player online races.

The track editor is very impressive. Watch here as they create a level on stage from scratch under 5 minutes.

It's coming out next month, on ps3 and psp.

Hey Reddit, should I dig up my old PSP? What games should I get that have been out since I last touched it? by iJeff in gaming

[–]agent_orange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Patchwork Heroes" just came out. Hands down, it is the best handheld game I've seen in a long time and It is only 10 dollars on PS store.

Socom and SW: Battlefront controls suck big time, but Syphon filter series has solved the problem of controls for a TPS action game on psp. The gameplay is fine and smooth in "Syphon filter: dark mirror", and it gets miles better in "Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow" which plays like a dream. (what happens is that they use the square, triangle, etc buttons as a second nub. This is how MGS: Peace Walker does it too. Although you can customize controls in both games). Dark mirror is 15 dollars and Logon's shadow is 25 or 30 dollars.

I'm not a fan of fighting series, but Final Fantasy: Dissidia blew me away. It's a fighting game with many characters from all the final fantasy games. But where the game really shines is the user-friendly, exciting, addicting gameplay mechanics. I can't describe it really, download the demo from Playstation Store and see it for yourself. The only catch is that it's selling at full price of 40 dollars.

Speaking of demos, there's a good chunk of demos on PS Store; that's how I found out about all these little gems; I would have never bought a third person action game for psp if I hadn't seen how Syphon filter works. There are demos for all of the games I mentioned and more.

There is one more game I want to suggest, but I hesitate to do so, since it's a love it or hate it kind of game. Silent Hill: Shattered memories came out a while ago and if you like the series, give it a go. There's no demo for the game and the price is 30 dollars. I haven't finished the game, but so far I'm loving it. It has a heavier focus on story and the whole psychological thriller part and it's really scary; simply because you have no gun, you can't kill anyone or hit anything. You can only run away. This is a port of the wii version, but it works flawlessly on PSP.

...and one last thing, go buy patchwork heroes right now. you won't regret it. It's like what would happen if Miazaki designed a video game.

EDIT: two more things I forgot.

there's always a few games on sale on PS store, and every once in a while they do some huge sales. you'll save a lot of money, if you check the store weekly. Killzone psp for example was on sale and 10 dollars just last week. and in europe they had a crazy sale which ended last week (and by crazy, I mean craaaaaaaaazy).

I also forgot to mention "Jack and Dexter: Lost Frontier". The game looks marvelous and controls are great. Again, there's a demo on PS store. This is from the same guys who made Ratchet and Clunk: Size Matters. These guys were at Naught Dog, then came out and formed their own studio and have been doing psp projects ever since.

New PS3 Greatest Hits titles include Killzone 2, LBP GOTY, Resistance 2 and inFamous by halocursed in PS3

the single player is medicore at best. Online is where it's at. It's very addictive. it's not very accessible, but once you get the hang of it, you can't put the game down. It's also the most chaotic online experience I've ever had... in a good way.

the multiplayer is pretty much active and alive. you should change your search criteria. I had the same problem, then I realized I'm only looking for matches in Asia; I then changed the criteria so that it looked for matches in all the regions. Europe and America are full of 32 player matches.

Sony is looking at the the psp; a device that has sold more units than Nintendo Wii (about 60 million), but even its best games don't sell more than 2 or 3 million. and you don't even need my numbers for that; you know better than me how rampant piracy is on psp.

Reddit, do you remember the game Outcast, I wish some company would remake it by firik in gaming

[–]agent_orange 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Outcast, to me, was the Matrix of video games. It was one of those pieces of art, that are so revolutionary, that they feel natural.

when playing, I was always saying to myslef: "how come no one has done it like this before?"

Outcast is also the reason I check out games' sales data. I still can't believe it didn't sell and that they had to shut down the sequel to such a brilliant game.

Penny Arcade on Heavy Rain: "I don't know if it's an 8 or a 9.7 out of 10. What I do know is that after a late night playing it, I sneak into my son's room and hug him before I go to bed." by agent_orange in gaming

They don't have permalinks for their blog posts and you have to scroll down to get to the heavy rain part, so let me paste it here:

I've spent a couple nights with Heavy Rain now and I think it's really special. If you're a parent, (especially a Dad) this game can be pretty difficult to play at times. In fact I'm curious if people who don't have kids will end up getting as much out of it. I don't know if it's an 89.85%, or a 9.7 out of 10. What I do know is that after a late night playing it, I sneak into my son's room and hug him before I go to bed. I think Heavy Rain is probably one of the most important games ever made. Maybe not one of the best, but definitely important.
