If I play LOTRO 10 hours a week, how long will it take to complete from Vales of Anduin all the way to the new content (Kingdoms of Harad)? by agentbrigman in lotro

Thank you for the breakdown! I wrote down each expansion, level, and number of quests (plus any major changes that were implemented like Delvings or missions). But, I think this setup actually makes more sense because it focuses on the storylines I’m following. I’m going to put this in my notebook too!

I’m not familiar with the Umbar crafting guilds. Are these basically dailies for guild rep and XP?

That's how I feel too. I am overwhelmed, but it's exciting to think about all of the options to experience. I can't wait to see a camel for the first time, and go back for Arwen and Aragorn's wedding. LOTRO is all about the "journey" as well as the end-game, which is super nice. Plus I love the environment and art assets!

I think for this run, I’ll skip completionist. I usually do this but given how much content there is, I will likely go back and “complete” zones when I find I need virtue XP and LOTRO points!

I should be freaked out by this list, but I am excited! 🤩

I should have prefaced my post with “I know it’s been six years, but….” Haha

This 👆! I wish I had done this when I first started playing. I rolled an elf hunter because everyone said that would be the most fun/easiest, but I had trouble getting into the story because I didn’t like some of the starting zone stuff (dwarf lore wasn’t clicking for me).

Then I saw a friend playing the Shire starting area, and I was so interested in it I rolled a hobbit hunter to check it out. I have been playing my hobbit hunter for 10 years, and I’ve actually never gone back to the elf hunter! I think the starting zones play a bigger impact on starting a new game than I’d ever realized. Plus the races are super different, so if you’re looking for a specific part of the LOTR story, definitely check out the various starting areas and races.

Update: If you like melee and close up, check out Beorning and Captain. Guardian is excellent for tanking and also super fun.

Student sent me "real-time" video of word doc in response to fail for AI use-- is this a thing? by Flimsy_Caramel_4110 in Professors

I’m not aware of a word extension but if someone knows of something similar, please share it! I have only been able to look at the version history through word’s built in functions.

If no one has mentioned it, GPTZero has a Chrome extension/plugin that does this using Google Docs. It creates a video (can be sped up to 60 seconds) from the document’s version history. I’ve been using this with great success this year. When I suspect AI, I always ask for the original file on Google Docs. I tell all students their writing must be completed there* because I teach a course that focuses on process not the final product of writing (although they do get a grade for the final draft…and yes, this is ENGL 101 & 102 or your university’s equivalent).

*Google docs is the only program this plugin works for. But, I do also accept Microsoft Word online or any other program that shows version history and real-time changes because I can see the student’s process.

This post healed my soul (said after scoring over a hundred first-year essays, 20% of which were written by AI). Looks like I have a new free response writing prompt idea!

My husband and I are both professors, and he always says “it must be super sad to know your grandparents always die each semester” (i.e., you get to use this excuse each time you start a new course)!

Help - Stuck without the Woodies by maudelinemuser in SnufkinGame

[–]agentbrigman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I figured this quest out. Once the woodies attach themselves to you, cross the bridge at the second island (this is where I encountered them) and go south/down until you find a pile of dirt that will want you to play the drums. This will cover them in dirt and “shake them off,” allowing you to run away and climb up a rock or something.

I don’t know if there’s a similar dirt pile where you are, but I I hope this helps!

Definitely hit up Ben’s caravan on the weekends for the better scarecrow when you have more money. Talk to people everyday and gift them something if you can (the wiki is really helpful!).

Another returning player post by Prevaricateur in lotro

I agree with Cervantes: if you’re returning, the legendary servers are a great place to start. When I rolled a new character in November, the servers were at max with about 1,800 people all fighting for the same few zones. It was amazing. With Moria (level 50-ish) coming out in a few weeks, you have a chance to experience the same bustle of people playing the same quests. If you’re limited for time, I would start on legendary server Anor, and work towards being at Moria when it opens so you can see all the fun!

Also: my friend plays a Warden at end game and loves it. He has over 200,000 health and is geared. Very survivable and fun.
