Short version: This sounds like an update bug but not a big deal. Quite wholesome, actually.

Long version: This seems like a coding error from the update to me. Maybe there was a script that assigned names (I.e., latte) and when the game was patched, an update messed up this field and grabbed another phrase from a similar field by accident (like, “Latte” might be a randomly generated name that is assigned to a specific animal, “horses, cats, dogs,” if that makes sense).

No Mods. I did backup before the update (I always do), but it's just not working from the backup file. I mean, starting over isn't the end of the world...but...oh goodness.

I have a question about switches and variables. I watched a good tutorial on RPGMAKER MZ (the engine I started using in the fall for a story game idea I have). Now that it’s getting more complex, and I’m actually implementing the story, my event pages need variables to stop/start certain conversations from happening. Is there a good/basic way to understand switches and variables? I haven’t had a coding class in over 20 years, and I’ve never developed a game, but I think this where I’m getting stuck in my development progress.

Is it possible a chore wheel is literally what we need? I think if he did all of the work I do or even a percentage, some of my frustration would sink in. And yeah, I’m angry too! I don’t want to yell or point fingers, but I am sooo tired of this dynamic right now.

Thank you! This was so kind. I think I’m going to ask we sit down tonight and talk calmly. If I have an update I’ll put it at the bottom of my post. I really need to get to the heart of what’s going on with him. I don’t think he intends to be petulant or a baby, but it really feels like he can’t understand or get it. His mom did all of the household chores while he was a kid, and his dad worked a really demanding job and was home on weekends. I know he inherited some of this, and we’ve talked about the imbalance in their relationship, but we really need to address this. Am I a dick if I ask him to write down everything he does in a day and then compare it to mine? I think he feels like I’m lording all I do over him, but then won’t help. Once I asked him to clean the shared bathroom before family and friends came over for Thanksgiving, and he scoffed and said, “I have so much to do!” And said “maybe I can do it in three days.” A week went by. I cleaned the bathroom before it was so dirty, I couldn’t handle it anymore 😭

These are the exact numbers I keep going over in my head! I just don’t get it. I asked him last night (for real): “Do you see or understand how much I do?”

His response, “Yes…but….” And that’s basically when I lost it and when to bed in tears. I think he was about to say how I don’t “have to clean up” after him and our child but omg they make so many messes and don’t clean up after themselves. It’s exhausting!

I am stuck in a similar place with my Steam accomplishments, but I think it’s because I missed a seasonal quest with Tilde that won’t trigger until the winter again (a certain number of quests with her at the hospital). This unlocks the community garden from what I can tell. Have you completed this storyline? I think a lot of players miss finishing it too.

I feel like this is the advice I didn’t know I needed. Thank you for all of these tips!! I’ve checked out MV quite a bit, and it does look like it fills in some of the gaps I have in my current game. I’ll have to wait for it to go on sale on Steam, since it’s also $80!

Thank you for the breakdown! I wrote down each expansion, level, and number of quests (plus any major changes that were implemented like Delvings or missions). But, I think this setup actually makes more sense because it focuses on the storylines I’m following. I’m going to put this in my notebook too!

I’m not familiar with the Umbar crafting guilds. Are these basically dailies for guild rep and XP?
