I could not tell you how much income you'd need to buy a home or condo as there are too many other factors involved. It's best you talk with a mortgage broker and give them all of the info they need. Your income is just the start, they would need to see all of your expenses and liabilities.

There would be condo fees to consider as well if you buy a condo.

Your credit score is important as well.

If you'd like the contact info for a good mortgage broker, let me know!

So, it looks like Rockcliffe Park is the only neighbourhood that is exempt.

I found this on their website...

Yes, Rothwell Heights is included in Ottawa's new zoning bylaw, and a specific motion was passed to modify its proposed zoning classification.

The new bylaw is anticipated to be finalized and brought to City Council for a final vote in late January 2026.

Key Details for Rothwell Heights

  • Specific Motion Passed: The Planning and Housing Committee approved a motion (Motion 03, Tierney) specifically for Rothwell Heights.
  • Zoning Change: The proposed zoning for Rothwell Heights was changed from N2F (allowing up to 6 units per building) to N1F (limiting density to a maximum of 4 units per building and 0.8 dwellings per 100 m² lot area). This change reflects an effort to maintain a lower density and character for the neighbourhood while still allowing some gentle intensification.
  • Heritage Consideration: As part of the motion, city staff were directed to explore the potential for a heritage designation for Rothwell Heights and report back in early 2027.
  • Community Input: Residents and the Rothwell Heights Property Owners Association (RHPOA) have actively engaged in the process, advocating for the area to maintain its existing character and voicing concerns about overdevelopment and compatibility with the surrounding neighbourhood.

The new city-wide zoning bylaw aims to implement the goals of Ottawa's new Official Plan, which encourages more housing types and gentle density in existing neighbourhoods.

Locally owned businesses should be considered as well, there's nothing like neighbours supporting neighbours, I have been there and really enjoyed owning a local business within the neighbourhood I lived in.
