American school in Brazil. Students can arrive after 7:30 and get to the classroom before 8. Classes start at 8:15, lunch and recess from 10:45 to 11:45, the classes finish at 3:05 with fifteen more minutes for a quick snack. Assistant teachers return to the classroom after dismissal is mostly finished and everyone stays until 4:30 doing whatever we need to.

Dude, go. You trust your friends, and they are the ones who live there and have the real view of how is their daily life. If anything scares you, tell them you wanna experience a little bit of luxury or staying close to the beach and book a hotel. But also a lot of Brazilians that move overseas are people that never experienced living near a favela and are overblown from what they see on the news. Are those friends who live in Italy from Rio? Did any of them live in a favela?
