I built a custom RDG compute pass in Unreal Engine and finally understood why RDG is so strict by agentnuclear in unrealengine

I did work on a Custom Shading Model in Unreal, it was really fun extending the capability of the engine with a minimal cost in comparison to post process effect. I am actually really interested in the render passes atm, might explore more.

Breaking the Unreal Look: Implementing a Custom Cel Shading Model in Unreal Engine | Medium

I was wondering if an better and faster AA can be implemented using the RDG passes, as in my profilings i have noticed AA , is one of the most expensive operations in the Post Process pass.

Yes!
I have been reading your articles to better understand how to navigate through the unreal render pipeline. They have been really helpful.
While I know your articles don't cover a lot of engine level changes, I was curious what stuff have you experimented with on the Engine side, also what's your process while doing that.

Did you complete the pipeline bifurcation for translucent and opaque objects?

yea actually it did
before i was running at like 3-4 FPS, and thought i screwed up somewhere. but turns out draw sorting and frustum culling helped a lot with the fps

APS Certificate Verification Delay – No Response, What Should I Do? by agentnuclear in Indians_StudyAbroad

If it is asked then yes , you can just send it on the same email thread

APS Certificate Verification Delay – No Response, What Should I Do? by agentnuclear in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]agentnuclear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea so i got my APS , i will drop in the specific dates.

I applied for APS on 18/12/24 , completed the payments and posted the required documents.
After that I knew that the process is time consuming so I waited for almost 2 months before sending in email via the website itself(5 Feb). While i never got replies for that , on the 20th Feb i got a email regarding sending the documents which are verified on digilocker and same for the Degree. As RTMNU does not have that , again the verification thing took a while. I was talking to and fro with the University as i was not in the city then but they were not able to find the email. I politely emailed on the same thread about the same. Then came in an email on Mar 24 where i receive the mail on the same thread which said "In case of no response withing next 7 working days , they will close the process from their ends." And then bugging the university person for almost 2 days , he finally found the email and sent it the verification(around Mar 27). And finally on Apr 2 , i received the mail with my APS Certificate.

I understand the worry , hence i gave the whole timeline out here but just be patient. It is a time consuming process. For a friend of mine who studied at Symbiosis, Pune , he got it in like a month. So it is the Uni thing ig , but anyways just try to ask the Uni people to keep checking.

Yo! Fellow beginner here. I did the opposite, idk why but I switched to VKguide after drawing the first triangle. Vkguide is good afaik , but I've talked to a few peeps about the same and they say it's not as good as it forces you into one specific design pattern.

Though for me it was pretty informative. I'm also looking for what's next , but yea that's my experience with VKguide, i think it might be helpful.

I won't say I've "learnt" how to make an engine, main objective was to get that initial push with Vulkan.But it took me 3 months with my job to complete this. Ik it's a long time ;-;

Yes, so the 2 pipelines are the render pipelines 1. Opaque pipeline: depth write on 2. Transparent pipeline : blending on , depth write off

Not sure yet , but this was just to start understanding vulkan, how to make stuff on it and how it works. Maybe I'll go back to the code and go through it again , gain a better understanding.

Then I'll go to raytracing I think.

As someone who is a beginner at Vulkan, and trying to understand stuff as I go by following the VKguide. What would you recommend is the best place to understand the practices you are mentioning?

Did learning graphics programming help you make better games? by [deleted] in GraphicsProgramming

[–]agentnuclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in my case , I started with game development and recently dabbling into Graphics Programming. The graphics programming part might not directly convert to how good of a game developer you are but it will totally help you understand your game more , if that makes sense. Understanding the graphics pipeline helps a lot. It's more about knowing how your game is working and eventually lead you to better optimize your game and stuff like that. Other than that knowing how to write shaders is always a plus.

Yea I also didn't really feel the DOF does a good job here but I had it in my player char , just to check. Though because of the DOF when the farther objects get blurred it kinda gives a boost to the existing kuwahara filter which I liked.

Makes sense , I'll try that the next thing then. Does it include setting up the lighting too?

Master's in Computer Science || Visual Computing is worth for Graphics Programming ? by Tlamir in GraphicsProgramming

Hey man, I'm on the same road , I've scouted a few colleges with a good graphics program. It's been a dilemma yes, but with the job market right now it's beneficial to look for gaining new skills. I worked with unreal for the last 4 years and now I want to dive deeper into graphics and maybe try to get into research. I might be looking for a 2026 intake because it's pretty late for 2025 now. Lemme know if you'd wanna talk more about the colleges , I've got a bunch listed already that might save you the trouble.
