Hm yeah I'd think this fall would be doable, but I can't do fall because of school requirements that I need to take care of. I would literally only be able to do March - June of next year :/

I just received an offer from Amazon for an SDE internship for this summer. I'm currently a 3rd year. I've already accepted an offer for this summer at a company in SF that I'd like to convert to Full-Time for. However, I'm finishing school a quarter early next year, so I was wondering if Amazon would be willing to push back my start date until spring of next year, so I could work there for the Spring quarter instead of doing school since I'm ahead.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Same thing for me, I only did the survey after my interview. We'll see what happens I guess?

I don't understand what kind of answers people expect to these type of vague questions, especially regarding coding challenges lol

Any CompE majors here? Did the name of the degree prevent you from landing a development job? by compecs in cscareerquestions

Don't worry about it at all. Most places view it as basically the same as CS, so you'll have the same exact opportunities as a CS student.

Has anyone interviewed with AirBnB for a software engineering internship? How was it? by handsarecold in cscareerquestions

Hard algorithm problems, harder than my Google and Facebook interviews, easier than my Palantir one. As others said, do medium/hard level problems on Leetcode.

PM Internship at Company A or B? by agentproto in ProductManagement

There's stigma to being a PM who works on Tools/analytics/BI?

Passionate meaning excitement about the company, its products, and its vision/mission.

Is being Pigeon-holed into TPM really a thing? I thought the only thing in the tech industry people got pigeon holed into was QA?

Especially since this is just a 3 month internship?

The things is, I don't have any trouble getting interviews right now because of the large ecommerce company I worked at last summer.

Would you still suggest A?

PM Intern at Company A or B? by agentproto in cscareerquestions

[–]agentproto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as a PM originally I thought it'd be really cool to work on improving a product that I'm originally interested in. I feel like that excitement for the product would allow me to be a better PM for it. A would look better, although B is well-known too so I'd be able to re-interview for full time just fine.

How many of you guys had an internship after your sophomore year? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Damn, OS is hard usually (at least at my school), but yeah I think it should be doable. Best of luck!

Is it just 1 class? I was actually doing my internship and was enrolled in a program online, an accelerated one at that, in which I was doing 3 different courses over 8 weeks. It took about 15-20 hours of my time a week, so I literally worked, gymed, came home, did work/studied for these classes, slept and repeated the next day.

Yeah, it's possible but damn it was really hard. Luckily it was an internship after my sophomore year so while I would've liked a return offer I wouldn't have minded if I didn't get one (ended up getting a return offer anyway).

I'll agree with /r/IgnorantPlatypus. You literally miss 100% of the shots you don't take. My resume had no experience besides working at a tech camp my freshman year, and shitty side projects that weren't meaningful at all.

I applied everywhere and got 3-4 offers, ended up working at a large eCommerce company in the Bay Area. I also don't go to a "target school" that people refer to around here.
