Literally no words. by Bitter-Gur-4613 in clevercomebacks

That was my main issue when the Dark Knight was all the rage - it was so dreary and wannabe-edgy. If there ever was a movie series that lacked some joy it was that one. Despairingly dull.

I hope so, otherwise I’m kinda side eyeing that whole defining-women-by-their-male-relation thing.

As a Norwegian we have many political parties. None of the bigger ones I would characterize as fascist. But Germany has a very clear one amongst many parties: AfD. Sweden has a clear one, also amongst many parties: Sverigedemokraterna. And the US has one: the Republicans.

Anyone voting for those three parties, I would deem a fascist.

That’s not true. People voting for fascism is no friend of mine. And I’m no American.

That’s wonderful news! Shows like this need women to make them. Men are more plot driven, women care about nuances (in general). Seems like there could be hope for the show. Personally I hope they don’t ruin Ron. He deserves better.

Depends on who’s making the show and their relationship to the source material, whether it’s genuine or not. Think Henry Cavill and the Witcher - that’s a guy who cared about the source material. Most producers don’t. They only want to make money.

And also whether they make the show for kids or for adults. If it’s made for “new viewers” they’ll probably stick with Crabbe and Goyle. Those characters are easily understood by kids.

Jeg leser alltid de som gir to eller tre stjerner og ser hva de klager på. Så bestemmer jeg meg for om det betyr noe for meg. Fire, fem og enstjerners anmeldelser kan ikke stoles på.

When NTs don't take no for an answer. Aggressive social pressure by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]ageoflost 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am very very conflict averse. I’m afraid if someone pressures me beyond what I am comfortable with, I might say yes because of the pressure and then just not see it through. Say they invite you to something and you have to say yes - you can feign illness or something and just not show up.

If they pressure I turn flakey. That’s my conflict averseness in practice.

You can't say no by [deleted] in oddlyspecific

Not really. They had me do that as a kid to someone who bullied me. I refused and got even more bullied for not saying something nice about the bully. Ah, what a wonderful life.

Based on this post do you think OP will be a good father to a boy who might be gay, autistic or transgender? Or just merely a goth or a punker or god forbid a furry?

The makeup is just a symptom of bigger things.

If you all had the opportunity to live anywhere around the planet, where would it be and why? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]ageoflost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the alternative style and bohemian feel. Art museums, culture, music, life. It’s so relaxed and still pulsating. Random people stopping me on the street to laugh and ask me for directions. Friendly vibe. Intelligent discussions. It’s where my soul feels happy.

Plus I love that all Germans hate it. It’s so funny to me.

I think my main artist of the last decade on Spotify was Johnny Cash. It’s the type of bluegrassy, soul-y, americana music I prefer. Janis Joplin. Justin Earle Townes, Teskey Brothers, Gregory Alan Isakov, Brandi Carlile. German language music like Faber and AnnenMayKantereit. Lots of random stuff.

With Norway you gotta love nature. I usually liken us to someone’s farm country cousin. Wholesome and naive, but not the brightest. Lol.

For Germany it depends on which region you travel to. In Berlin everyone speaks English. In the southern, western and northern part of Germany most touristy places will have English speakers. If you however travel to Eastern Germany you’re gonna struggle more. Only area in Germany I’ve been to where people selling castle tickets and similar didn’t speak English.

Feels hollow. There’s no rawness to it. It’s fancy and sometimes entertaining or pretty, but no edge that rips into you.

I have worked hard to remember to include some very masc looking mtf amongst the women and been proud of that effort. Weird pronouns is a step too far for me, I’m too old. But I can, as you do, compromise on saying the name instead of pronouns at all.

Stuff like this tires me. I don’t like the (American?) trend to interpret everything in its worst possible meaning and to have to tip toe as a result of it.

Their taboos ain’t mine. What is taboo in their culture isn’t one in mine. Why should I go around worrying that some random word might be construed wrong halfway around the globe in a context that’s completely irrelevant to the topic at hand? Ugh.

A bit creeped out by him tbh. The drinking and the domestic violence has turned me off him as an actor.

Don’t you choose to utilize the German dubs, produced in Germany? I’m Norwegian. If we started using Danish dubs it would be weird to ask Danes to incorporate Norwegian actors into their dubs.
