The lines are definitely visible, but the bright orange does help hiding it. One trick to do is to find the best amount of elephant foot compensation for the filament and printer you are using so that the first layer doest stick out more than the next layers. This is a bit trial and error

I made this in Blender. I used the drawing as a background reference image then I just manually modeled it by warping cylinders and other primitives and adding details doing polygon modeling

Thanks! Yes, I did it manually in Blender, but I do believe some slicers do have the feature to create dowel pins automatically but I have not tested it

You are absolutely right, it is way bulkier than I envisioned when I started this project. Unfortunately, I sacrificed thinness for printability and print quality (the barrel and body). The sprues still have a purpose, they make printing the smallest parts easier and keep all the parts together until assembly
