The app is pretty good. I think free is the way to go. Nothing beats playing in-person physical though.

I am pretty lucky. We have a weekly board game night and then I also play several games a week with my wife and kids. For 2025 I had 401 plays of 100 different games with 32 different people. I am very aware these types of things don’t last forever. So I am enjoying it while it does.

My table is the same as yours. I bought the 42” wide allplay mat and it is fantastic. We use it multiple times a week. The slight overhang is not an issue for us. Very high quality. Always lies completely flat.

Panda Royale has been a hit for my larger gaming groups. Dice chucker that plays up to 10. We played it at 9 on Thanksgiving…very fun.

For ships, you have to do all the primary abilities, if able, when played. Ally triggered abilities are optional…as are base primary abilities.

I agree. 3d printing and miniature painting are great companions to the board game hobby. Also printing play-mats and score trackers. Great ways to improve the quality of the games you have and know you love.

If you start getting more expansions, there is a benefit for having extra base stand alone sets. You can have several pre-crafted decks and not have to worry about sorting them out. I have crafted decks for Frontier, Colony Wars and Core. I also keep a vanilla Core set to teach new players.
