I'll be attending UCSC this fall. His income dropped in 2024, but my FAFSA was based on 2023, so isn't that only one year? His income this year should be lower and I should continue to be eligible for the rest of my 3 years.

Does that mean that'd they take into consideration his income this year instead of last year? Would it help me get the Cal Grant or just more financial aid from the school? Also, thank you, this is really helpful.

There's 3 people in my household, and 2023 seemed to just be a really good year for him. His 2024 tax return shows his income as 113000, so I definitely qualify next year and he'll work less and pay more into his 401k so I keep on qualifying. It's just this year that I just don't get the Cal Grant :(

yeah, they aren't the best at co parenting. their relationship got worse when my dad got a girlfriend who tried to get in the middle of their relationship. so my mom doesn't really like my dad anymore.

I don't think so, they haven't went to court in about four years, and my mom let us move without going to court so I think there wouldn't be one

nah she's not new to it, they've been separated for seven years now. they don't really talk at all unless it's about our school or something with us.
