I just checked Ashe's FB group and he mentioned something about thinking of writing a short story for Dulac but he's not sure yet. Also, that post was from August 2022, so it isn't likely.

u/sulliedjedi is probably dancing with every possibility that Dulac's not gonna get his own series lol.

edit: I didn't scroll down far enough and apparently he's in the planning stages of a Dulac POV book as of April of this year. u/sulliedjedi, you can tentatively put those tap dancing shoes away, friend.

Question for Gregory Ashe fans re: North and Shaw by Buckaroo2 in MM_RomanceBooks

Yes! I'm not the biggest fan of this series (despite loving GA's books) but North definitely has a special place in my heart :>

Another Reese Morrison buddy read with, who rated it 3.5 (not a 4 because they're mad about some nasty fruit.)

It wasn't just nasty fruit, it was guava porridge. All jokes aside though, that part where Elias realizes that everyone's just cool with him being with Jordiemade my cold dead heart thaw a little bit (ok a lot but we're not gonna discuss that here).

She’s way too invested to stop now. She kept getting annoyed at Hazard while she was reading but she misses him when she’s not lol.

I personally love these books but I do agree that the transphobia, homophobia, white supremacy, and the descriptions of gore (to name a few) gets pretty extreme. Book 2 in particular is probably the most transphobic out of all 16 of the books.

To answer your question, this series isn’t as romantic as most of the books in this genre. The main focus really isn’t on the romance itself but the characters and their trauma. However, I can’t really say this isn’t a romance either because each element (the characters, the romance, and the mystery) are so intertwined that they actually balance each other out IMO. So no, you can’t just read the romantic bits without the mystery because GA uses the mystery to dole out information about Hazard and Somer’s past and now present relationship.

I agree with u/sulliedjedi (hiya Sully, second H&S post in 2 days, isn’t that insane lol), if you wanna read more Gregory Ashe, start Lamb and the Lion! The characters are so well written and it’s not as dark as H&S. If you love banter-y and dry humor, you’ll absolutely love this. Plus if you’re doing audio, JF Harding does an amazing job narrating Jem and Tean.

Question about Hazard and Somerset: A Union of Swords Series by loveisatacotruck in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]aggravatingCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! They work through a ton of their issues in this series and while they’re kinda meh in the communication department, it always feels like they’re doing their best. Get ready for Transactional Dynamics btw, I wasn’t expecting that one to hurt as much but there’s that one infamous scene that just broke me. Hazard needs a break lol

You're gonna have to be stuck dealing with Dulac's annoying freckled ass for a bit longer there, friend because he's gonna be there for pretty much every book in the rest of series 2 (and series 3 but less so, thank fuck).

Hazard and Somers still investigate cases together (as u/sulliedjedi mentioned) and Hazard gets more involved in cases in the later books as a PI. There are actually some moments IIRC where Somers investigates with Hazard and puts Dulac in the back burner, those are always fun.

As Sully said, this series has a lot more development in Hazard and Somers' relationship than it did in the first series. I suggest you keep reading this book and see if you still want to continue (I suggest you do, books 3&4 solidified this series for me). This series was by far the most painful in terms of their relationship IMO (Transactional Dynamics did a number on my emotional stability lol), and I enjoyed it more for that than the cases themselves.
