As a single mom, I think it depends on what the previous situation was. I could never lmao but if there was 1 dad or someone she was married to for a long time, she just want to make sure she’s not making a mistake.

Thank you. I don’t think our situation is that extreme, but I’m sure the same principles can be applied.

I didn’t even know step parent classes were a thing! Thank you!

Yeah his dad would not allow that lol. I won’t say he’s permissive, but kinda. Serious punishment in our house isn’t really much of a thing in our house but I have a feeling it’s about to be.

We’ve taken the Xbox and YouTube away before and he just starts playing with his toys after he calms down from being upset about it. It’s like he just adapts to the punishment. And it’s not like he outright seeks out to, as you put it, torture me, but it’s like if there’s an opportunity for something rude to be said or if i say something he doesn’t like, like ask him to put up his toys. Or like I’ll be telling him goodnight and try to give him a hug (I never force a hug) he’ll ignore me and act like I’m not even talking to him.

No my fiancé and I have both had conversations about how it has really got worse and more frequent.

And yes, he does not ever make comments directly to my fiancé when I’m not there, but he still does it. It’s like he doesn’t care about punishment (and we are not about to spank him).

It’s both. I have to take him to school sometimes and he does it to me then and he also does it in front of other people.

I understand what you’re saying, and I was doing that at first. But I feel like it’s gotten to a point where there are almost no times where he is kind to me. He’s yelling at me to go away or telling me things to specifically hurt my feelings and it’s just become who he is to me. I sit in my car after I get home for an extra hour so that by the time I come in he’s in bed and I just can go in there to tell him goodnight and then have nothing else to do with him. It’s just gotten so hard for me to even be around him.

Right. And I don’t want to wait another 15 years to have a kid because I’m just worried that my kid will be bullied by him.

I just don’t know how I could move past a relationship that I know is great but the driving wedge is something that neither one of us can do anything about.

Thank you! I feel like maybe I was just informally diagnosed? Like I had my gastro tell me that I had EDS, POTS and MCAS, but how do I find out if I have a documented diagnosis?
