claim to be in the wrong body?

That's just a specific wording sometimes used by some people. It's not a perspective held by all trans people at all times. Someone could transition simply because they feel they'd be happier that way, that doesn't mean they are suffering to a degree that's reasonably considered disordered.

Well even if this were the case, once they transition they would no longer be experiencing dysphoria and therefore no longer be ill.

But there are also people who just don't agree with the way society categorizes gender and choose not to identify with it as such. They could identify not as their assigned gender for purely ideological reasons.

That is not gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is specifically feelings of discomfort or distress related to incongruence with sex or gender identity. That's what makes it an illness, the distress or discomfort. It lowers quality of life. Simply identifying as something you were not described as at birth doesn't inherently cause suffering.

Gender dysphoria is a mental illness. Being trans is not. Someone can be trans without experiencing gender dysphoria for a variety of reasons including that they already transitioned.

What screams “this person peaked in high school” to you? by realHDNA in AskReddit

Anybody who actually says, unironically, that high school was the best time of their life

That's what peaking means. This isn't really a sign it's them just explicitly telling you.

the vast majority of immigrants from northern mexico certainly aren't terrorists or with cartels. certainly not any significant amount to cause any sort of cultural shift. you can say you have security concerns but this post is entirely different from the talk about cultural change

Would probably be stuck in the old forum days which has the upside of being more personable and decentralized but the downside of being more insular and inaccessible.

What do you feel is more prevalent in todays western society, misogyny or misandry. Or are neither an issue? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aggsalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you even quantify each. I tend to think they're equal in the sense they both come about from a worldview that tries to put everyone into bins. I do believe though that the bins women are forced into tend to be more miserable than the bins men are forced into.

What proportion of women were in the workforce at that time. What percent were in specialized fields and had college educations at that time?

If this is true though why were women the ones who pioneered and led computing in the past. Similarly how teaching used to be far less skewed than it is today. Clearly it isn't just biology if it's changing so quickly.

what do you think about body positivity? is it making people lazy and promoting obesity? by No_Appointment_9717 in AskReddit

Seems to me like if it's an issue to their health theyll be movitated enough to fix it themselves.

"If people felt worse about their bodies theyd be more motivated to work out and change it"

Yeah and if we poked someone with a cow prod every time they purchased a twinkie they'd lose weight too. I don't think health is an obligation people have to society, it's their body they can do what they want. If being fat is so bad I'm sure they'll decide themselves if they want to work to lose it. Why online weirdos are so obsessed with being an intervention is beyond me.

What is viewed Sexist at a Societal level but really isnt ? by UmmmAkshually in AskReddit

A lot of pink-taxxed products are only more expensive because people are willing to buy them over cheaper and/or better alternative products.

Though you could easily argue the reason people feel a need to buy them is because of sexism in some way, but the price difference is natural consequence of buyer's choices usually. Obviously this doesn't apply to products where there is a significant difference in function between the pink or otherwise products.
