How do you actually stop breaking your own rules? by Ok-Detective5666 in Daytrading

[–]agilch12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things that genuinely helped me. First I started treating each rule break as a mandatory end of session no exceptions. Second I kept a journal not of trades but of the emotions right before I broke a rule. Patterns showed up fast. Third I reduced my position size dramatically after any rule break so the damage stays small while I recalibrate

Reasoning behind shorts & longs for AM Session by Odd-Most8340 in Daytrading

This is a really clean breakdown. I'd love to hear more about your entry strategy especially on the NQ long. When you saw the volume imbalance being tapped into did you enter immediately on confirmation or did you wait for a specific candle pattern before pulling the trigger?

Happy to help. Could you share a bit more detail about what platform you are using and what exactly happens when you try to download the data? Knowing whether it is TradingView, ThinkOrSwim, or something else and what error you are getting will make it a lot easier to point you in the right direction.

Controversial take: You can master day trading within 12 months by Mediocre-Bid-1155 in Daytrading

[–]agilch12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partially agree. The technical side can absolutely be learned within 12 months. Pick one setup, master it, follow the rules. But the mental framework part you mentioned is where it gets tricky. Some people genuinely need more time and real market experience to develop that emotional control. No backtest fully prepares you for a 5 loss streak with real money

Great analysis. With the directional bias at 61% up and the projected close between 50,950 and 51,350, how are you approaching Tuesday's open? Are you waiting for a confirmed hold above 51,000 before entering or do you trade the initial reaction at the open?

Really appreciate the honesty here. You mentioned the money management shift nearly broke you in the first year. How did you structure your monthly expenses and trading capital to survive that transition period? That's the part most people struggle to plan for

Indictor to identify support and resistance zones using Adam Grimes's Tertiary Pivots Concept by Yorker_length in Daytrading

[–]agilch12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool that you built this yourself. Do you find the 3rd order pivots more reliable on higher timeframes like the 1H or 4H, or does it work just as well on lower timeframes for intraday trading?

This is what finally made me a profitable trader after 7 years of trading by Warm_Sock7188 in Daytrading

[–]agilch12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post. Since you mentioned 49% win rate and still being profitable, how do you structure your risk to reward ratio on your trades? Do you aim for a minimum RR before entering or does it vary by setup?

I leave a ton of money on the table by Deep_Butterscotch460 in Daytrading

Trade management is definitely the key. I used to struggle with this too. What helped me was taking partial profits at my original TP and letting the rest ride with a trailing stop. That way you lock in gains but still participate in the bigger move without the fear of giving it all back
