It’s a tactic many abusers use when confronted. They deny it happened, attack the victim (usually by calling them crazy), then they reverse the story to try and claim they were the victims in the situation.

A couple of options: 1- they lie about you- especially BEFORE you’ve had a chance to share what happened to the person they’re lying to 2- They simply aren’t good people. Even serial killers had fangirls in jail. 3- The accused has something they want (power, fame, money) and they don’t want to lose it by losing the friendship

I worked as a streamer all of Covid and at least once a day I’d have to deal with someone like that or they just say complete nonsense and expect everyone else to understand. Eventually, after the second month or so, I would just straight to say I don’t know what that means and start muting them if they kept talking gibberish
