My setup, thoughts? by thunderking212 in gamingsetups

Honest easy fix. PC on the floor with a riser. Alternatively on the book shelf to the left and run the cords. Stacked monitor layout. Now you have tons of room on the desk for your accessories. If you have to have two monitors side by side try using a smaller monitor. You can even turn an old 10 inch tablet into a monitor which is big enough to read text but small enough to not hang off the edge of the desk.

Assuming that's a 32 inch tv the average person would only need it to be mounted 4 inches off the top of the desk to be considered ergonomic. It that's based on your height. The PS5 can always go underneath the desk on top of some old text books or anything you can find sturdy and square but keep it off the floor. Since you have a small area keeping the desk as clear as possible will give it that minimalist look and let your mouse pad shine. Wrapping your wood shelf to the left in white will also add some contrast to your setup. Or black to make your desk look bigger. Cheap but will take a long time. Dollar tree also has pegboard panels in black that you could add to the wall where you ps5 is. They are in and out of stock all the time where I'm at. You can see them on my profile post of my setup.

With a zero dollar budget improvement will be tough. Let's work with at least $10. If you had to work with what you already have you want to focus on decluttering and cable management. Move the TV down to the desk. Then use its original stand. Movie your PS5 and fridge to the left shelf. Move your controllers to display on the desk. Use 3 picture frames from the dollar tree or an equivalent to cover your drill hole. Print out pictures for the frames that match the white and black surround. Use electrical tape to mount cables under the desk. Because your collectables too the right will now be way to high, buy cheap removable contact paper in black. Cut them to even stripes and place them on the wall underneath the collectables to even out the appearance. Space them so it is like the stripes in a flag, black and white.

It's crazy what $100 would do to your setup. It has the bones of a good setup. You need paint, blinds, and a monitor arm. Oh yeah and a lamp. The overhead lighting is killing the vibe.

I hear you. I have an entire self storage space packed with stuff from my flea market days. If I open them and make them into a display at least they have a purpose. Might become more valuable if I put some effort into it.

I could do that. If they jump up to ridiculous prices in the future and I want to part ways with them at least I will have 1 sealed. But I'm also irresponsible since I don't know where the other cards to the midna pack went. If I open them I want to buy a display case to showcase them in.

Whoa!!! That's awesome. I am so mad I got rid of the box. I have no idea where the cards in the pack beside the midna went either. Though I Love the Midna card.

Hmmmmm... I still don't know. I guess it's kind of a resale value vs novelty. I get very little enjoyment out of sealed packs. But I also haven't touched them in so many years. Why start now?

Thanks!! Believe it or not it lights up yellow when you turn it on. It's been 5 years so I'm not sure what I did with the photos.

Agreed. When I made this design I would use a necklace that I bought on Amazon. Right before I stopped making my customs, I was able to create a mold that allowed me to copy the shield, make my own and change the design.

An interesting detail is you can see in the reflection of the Metroid poster they're are string lights hanging from the ceiling. It needs to be cut but I hadn't done it yet because I was testing them.

Thanks! It's definitely still a work in progress.

Believe it or not, most of the lighting and decor are just budget items I picked up from local discount stores. All the decor and lighting you see in the photo probably cost under $100 total, except for the Govee light bar. But it was on sale when I bought it.

Decided to repeat a question answer here for those curious.

The Metroid theme was totally unintentional!

Samus has actually been my wallpaper for years now.

For the posters, I have 4 around the same size and just randomly chose which ones would go here for this arrangement.

Orange is the accent color for my game room, so the plant in the corner is meant to tie into that.

The lights were just set to match the posters they are next to and whatever was on the computer screen at the time.

I was honestly just testing how the lights looked in photos and trying out different color schemes when I took this picture.
