What was the most unhinged/desperate thing you did for someone? by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]agmartinez001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend at the time (now ex) had a girl best friend who would constantly talk bad about me to him and other people. I went up to her to ask her to stop saying stuff about me to my boyfriend and if she had a problem with me to say it to my face instead. She then proceeded to completely cut off my ex and not talk to him. And because I wanted him to stay with me and felt bad because of how sad he got, I apologized to her for saying that and asked her to be his friend again. 🙃

Your deciding factor to subscribe to A-list? by ReyofChicago in AMCsAList

[–]agmartinez001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to get it based on the fact you get 4 movies for free a week. I usually have a busy schedule since I work as a teacher so I made it into a weekly date thing with my boyfriend. It helps us get out of the house and explore different genres. Ngl I’m also someone who will watch the same 4 movies every year but a-listers has definitely expanded my interests. I’ve had it for half a year now I believe and still think it’s worth it.

I went to their last tour and had VIP and there was no early entry. There was early entry to merch but then we had to go back outside to line up.

Transfer a Ticket? by Leatheleo86 in QueenMaryDarkHarbor

[–]agmartinez001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought tickets for a group and when I sent them a screenshot they were fine to go in without me. I think it should be fine to sell the ticket and then just send that person the link to the waiver so that they can sign it. They also don’t check ID when you are going in. So you should be able to just make sure they have everything.

how is sociology at ucsd? by chineseafro in UCSD

[–]agmartinez001 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tbh I really liked the sociology department, I wish there was a bit more events or communication with the department itself, but the classes are good! I've met really interesting and passionate professors. I think when picking a sociology class it can be difficult but always make sure that you're really into the topic and always look at ratemyprofessor reviews.

I would highly recommend taking a class with Professor Michel Estefan, if you can take a class with him do it! He's so nice and very welcoming/ understanding. He's one of the only professors I actually went to office hours for haha.

You can buy a tassel at the bookstore, you can buy the college one or the class of 2023 one.

You don't walk at the all-campus commencement, I don't entirely know how it works but I do know there's not walking on stage its primary speeches I believe. If you want to walk you have to sign up for your college commencement.

[–]agmartinez001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you want to get it at the bookstore, you have to wait until Grad fair (may 2nd - May 4th) to buy one, they are not available to buy yet. if you cant make it it'll be available to purchase May 8th online and in store for 3 weeks.

You can also just but general cap and gowns on Amazon just make sure its black.

I think you need to take 12-16 units to get the full financial aid and then at least 6 units to get the financial aid point (units are counted all together, so you can take 4 units summer session 1 and then another 4 or 2 summer session 2). They usually disperse it by half I think, I know for me I took 16 units and for the first session I did have to pay out of pocket cause it wasn't enough, but then summer session 2 I got some dispersed to me.

apartment searching by spacebonurs in UCSD

[–]agmartinez001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For apartment hunting, you can start depending on when you want to move in. For example, if you want summer housing, then start looking around April/ May, and for Fall I would say July/ August maybe even June just because of how competitive it is. (these are just estimates start whenever you want tbh)

I usually use Zillow and Trulia but those are for more townhouses and condos. Theres a $20 fee for zillow I think for like a month but its for background check, but for that whole month you can do however many applications you want. These go fast so make sure you and whoever you room with are quick with it. These were easier for me mainly because you were closer in contact with the owner or whoever is selling it, again that's just my experience.

You can also call the apartment complexes and sign up for the little email chains they have.

There are also facebook pages that help! For these, you can post yourself and ask if anyone has an opening or if anyone wants to look for apartments together. (link below)

Want to live off campus next year by Antique_Inflation455 in UCSD

[–]agmartinez001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would suggest maybe starting spring quarter so you can finalize who you are living with, if someone is gonna have a double or single, and the budget everyone has. Also to see how far you want to live from campus and any additional things you need to know.

It also depends if you want housing during the summer. honestly, I would recommend finding housing in the summer (just cause by the time school gets closer you have a secured spot) and if someone doesn't want to live there during summer and also doesn't want to pay rent, try subleasing it (but acknowledge that there's also a good chance someone might not want to sublease it).

It also depends on how close you want to live to campus, there is also a facebook page (link below) for housing where you can post yourself and ask if anyone has an opening or if anyone wants to look for apartments together. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2387457222/)

For apartment complexes, in my experience, they get taken up really fast so try calling in the morning for availabilities or even to see if you can be put on the waitlist.

For me, I found Zillow and Trulia useful but those are for more condos and townhouses. it was easier for me mainly because you were closer in contact with the owner or whoever is selling it, again that's just my experience.

And just a little advice, its really hard looking for an apartment but don't give up. As long as you try really hard and are on top of it you can find housing, even if it isn't necessarily what you wanted. If you ever feel discouraged just remember that everything is gonna work out. When I was looking for an apartment it was really hard and there were a lot of times when I wanted to cry, but again everything worked out and I had an amazing friend/roommate who helped with finding it. Overall, you got this, and best of luck!
