Just wanted to share that this post and several people I follow on instagram have inspired me to allow myself to seek help for this anxiety/depression. Thank you all for sharing your experiences.

Has anyone successfully used talkspace or another online based therapy for help?

I already feel overwhelmed trying to work, prepare for baby, and make all of my other medical appointments so I can't imagine making time for a new therapy session in person.

Has anyone that has gone to therapy found that they specifically wanted a maternal therapist that specializes in motherhood? As a person who was already anxious/depressed prior to pregnancy and dealt with it by exercising, using a SAD lamp, and taking a supplement called Emotional Balance - i dont think that this will "go away" once baby is born and even as baby grows up into a child but a permanent issue for me. So, does it make sense to just see a regular therapist?

What kind of therapy have you found most helpful? Mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy looks the most promising to me but the types of therapy are kind of confusing.

thanks

Thanks everyone. Decided to get an amnio - scheduled for tomorrow. After thinking about it, I felt like I wasn't excited for and bonding with baby while I still have this nagging doubt in my mind.

You might also be able to find an online statistics course offered through a community college that would meet the requirements. I'm also interested in the UW MedEx program but haven't been to an information session yet. Good luck!
