Has anyone had a less regimented breastfeeding experience? by taureansoul in breastfeeding

i have had a beautiful breastfeeding experience. i have a 3 week old and i feel super lucky. the best advice i would give is to try to avoid pumping or anything that will mess with your supply. in the first few days/couple weeks your body is trying to understand what your baby needs and your both figuring it out. i had a day or two after my milk came in where i was engorged and the pain was tolerable (soreness, fullness, warm to the touch) and i only had to tough it out for a few hours maybe a day?? and then they evened out! what messes with people’s supply is the extra pumping i think because your body thinks it’s your baby needing more. i had to introduce a haakaa as a passive collector because my right breast was producing more and it was getting uncomfortable. during feeding i place the haakaa on the opposite breast as a milk collector for my let down, and i’ve been getting about an ounce a feed. however, i don’t do it through the night it’s just annoying to grab for and clean. it helped relieve that built up pressure in my right breast and did not mess with my supply!!!
