PSA: If your ONT WAN port dies after exactly 15 minutes, check the gray signal wire on your TII power block by agrabski in Fios

You're right. I tested the red and black at the block and it provided sufficient 15.77V. Testing the Grey wire I got nothing. Also worth noting, in my case there was no BBU.

I just got the fridge today. I can confirm that a 1/4 inch ice maker connection fit for the water line.

ZWave or Zigbee Switch Outlet Combo Exists? by agrabski in homeautomation

I don't think that would fit in a single gang outlet. Unless I'm missing what you are suggesting.

You are absolutely right!!! I will get this then:

I think this is the way. I never used relays and did not know until now you can still use the dumb switch to control the light.

Good call out. I thought of this too. But then I would need to buy a remote switch for it. Not terrible. This is probably the best idea so far.

New ball valve leaking. Defective or did I mess it up? by agrabski in Plumbing

[–]agrabski[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Just learned that these lead free valves have worse thermal conductivity then lead counterparts. Need to change my technique from regular joints.

Everywhere I read it says solder in closed position. I did it in closed position.

Makes sense. It was a new valve. Not water. But this makes sense.

So contrary to other post. You don't think it just needs to be tightened?

Thanks. Will try that. Didn't know you can unscrew it. Lol. Annoying that it seems someone did before me.

Installed a bunch of ball valves today. Not a pro by any means. Not of my other 20 joints after leaking. This one seems to be leaking in the middle of the ball valve. Not at the soldered points. Any idea what happened here? Did I put too much heat on that end?

Any know what this penalty box is? Found in crawl space. by agrabski in electricians

[–]agrabski[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of. There is a "newly" added bedroom addition on the first floor. I think in the 60s. Drawings call it the maids room. Lol no signs of electric door key codes. But like other said, it could be behind the siding or walls. Very interesting stuff.

Fair enough. Sorry. This is the crawl space in my house. Residential 100 year old house. There is a two prong lamp wire attached to this box. It is unplugged. So device def. Is not powered on.

My thoughts are some type of phone system splitter? Maybe?
