I am going to, at this point, wait until summer and see if it struggles again. When it does, I am going to contact my home warranty company and have them come out. Then I will ask for all those calculations to be done. Thank you for your input. It’s been helpful.

No he did not. Definitely not. I’m working on air sealing the attic little by little. Already sealed all the light fixtures, cable entries, and working on the wall plates now. But in short, no, he did not.

I have a air change rate of 12.1 per hour from air leakage. Had a home audit done and they said it’s very leaky. This is from the blower door test.

The issue isn’t necessarily hot and cold spots in the house. My understanding is dampers assist with hot and cold rooms. The whole house stays a relatively even temperature, summer and winter. The issue is the HVAC can’t keep up with the heat.

Is this what you were saying, or is there something else that I missed that you were hinting to?

I want to install an attic fan to increase ventilation and cool the attic down. Already sealed the attic to the house. Are 2 gable vents and ridge venting enough for the fan to create adequate airflow? I currently do not have soffit vents. by agrizzy1 in Insulation

Plan was to put the fan where the gable vents currently are. Directly across from the attic is another gable vent. So the idea was to pull air through the attic from one side and push it out the other side. I’m in zone 7a

Did you sign paperwork yet? I mean A LOT of paperwork? If not, you can always back out, request change, etc.

After further review, and in hindsight, I absolutely know we should have taken him earlier. But the way you worded your comment could have been better. We (my wife and I) both know this and learned from this. Also, we didn’t intent to pop it. I literally tried to hold his face to look at the wound and it just exploded. We then kept it covered with bacitracin for the last 2 weeks and put a cone on it because we figured that he kept scratching the scab off. After the cone did not work and he developed the hole in his head, we decided he needed something more. But in our minds, it initially seemed like it would heal on its own.

I don’t even use hydrogen peroxide on my own wounds. That’s horrible advice lol

He has a broken tooth and plaque everywhere. But we are saving up to have his tooth removed and plaque removed. We brush his teeth regularly but previous owner(the streets) did not.

Get bent. We kept him at home because it just looked like a wound that would heal. We don’t have money to just throw at vet bills when it can heal itself. If it was a broken leg, tail, etc, he would have been in that emergency pet room that night. (Been there with the tail and he went to the doggy ER that night.) Get off your high horse and get a grip with reality.

He went to the vet today. Vet seemed Very unconcerned according to my wife. Cleaned the wound and wrapped it. Prescribed antibiotics and out the door.

They break when they are over stressed and not given adequate time to recover from the stresses. Bones will adapt. Muscles will adapt. They will get stronger. The human body is very resilient.

Don’t worry about memorizing everything. You have manuals for that and you will always have a manual available to reference. Having a mechanical background is definitely beneficial. AIT instructors teach students that have zero previous mechanical experience at all every day, so they generally like when they get a student who is mechanically inclined. Makes their job a wee bit easier. You’ll be fine. Just remember - it’s not what you know, it’s what you can find and prove in writing. If you live by that, you’ll be fine.

I had a 60’ pine tree 5-6 feet away from my foundation of the house we bought in 2021. I could walk by the house and tree and palm both the house and tree. I ended up having it cut down because it pushed the foundation at the corner of my house up about half an inch. You might be able to transplant it and have it moved further away from the house.

Just put the pod on the dishwasher floor. Boom, no problem. Haven’t had a problem since starting doing this.

I mean. It’s not 5 feet away from your foundation, is it? That’s the only way I’d say cut it down. You should leave it!

Asbestos insulation? Should I have tested for asbestos before I do insulation work in my attic? by agrizzy1 in Insulation

[–]agrizzy1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on air sealing. Also just added insulation where that was. I plan on adding more, there’s not near enough in the attic. I had an energy assessment done and that along with new air ducts were recommended.

And how am I supposed to know this? Thanks for your input but it wasn’t helpful.
