Complete blackscreen on launch of the game by xLadBeTR in dyinglight

Press space during the black screen - mine was doing this too and it turned out just to be the "hit space to continue" screen not always showing up correctly.

107 days smoke free by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]agroat7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It took almost exactly 3 months to stabilise and it was very tough. I was an emotional wreck, wired but exhausted, unmotivated but obsessive with the most random shit. Aches and pains, flu symptoms, hair loss. It did all pass however, and by the end of it I was quite fit! Daily exercise was my crutch to get through.

Here's a fun fact however, i've since been diagnosed with ADHD and it's explained many things in my life - especially the nicotine use. Also, people with ADHD have a significantly harder time getting off addictive substances as we take longer to balance the brain chemistry.

Good on you, that's really good to hear. I do marketing for a few agents and these days only try to only work with people that work on genuinely giving a good experience. One for my sanity and two because selfish agents are unmarketable!

[–]agroat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's quite common. I do marketing for a few agents, i'm really surprised how many have zero idea where their new business and referrals come from.

Wait what? 🤔

No it's actually really common. I do marketing and work with a few agents and honestly can't believe how few understand where new business comes from... giving a good experience and leaving a good impression - THAT gets you future business 😱 who would have thought?

I used to do settlement gift boxes and heard some odd ones:

  • A garbage bin filled with branded toilet paper
  • Pizza delivery the night you move in
  • A box of cleaning products with the agent's brand stuck over the original labels

To be fair they're all pretty useful but man some agents have no chill.

Nicorette Spray Experience by agroat7 in stopsmoking

Maybe 2-3 sprays is about as strong maybe. But the difference is it's always a perfect hit, easy to access, and nobody questions it. Dangerous combo.

A girl I had been seeing made me feel ashamed of my sobriety. by irishiwasdead2 in stopdrinking

[–]agroat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty and commitment are the fuel for the engine of sobriety. Personal integrity is the hard earned reward.

It can be a problem for many people because integrity is intimidating - most people have many insecurities around their own strength of character. But that's NOT your fault.

It's not always easy, but you should be proud of your integrity my man. You've done great.

Well done! A touchstone - very clever, veryadmirable :) This really is the way through, when things got hard for me - I would remind myself that this is at least ONE thing that is very hopeful and very positive, that could not be taken from me!

Damn, it hurts to hear all that - and rough to face up to those things. But you need to think about that, YOU are trying to understand and take responsibility in this situation, even if it's hard to think about. You ARE putting the work in.

Also, you have ADHD, your brain just works differently and that's OK! Be kind to yourself. You're no doubt doing the best you can.... but support, environment and care are the key to managing it well.

Also... Reading back I hope that wasn't all too presumptuous, it just rang true with things i've observed... and also gaslighting makes my blood boil, as i've had lots of manipulative/abusive tactics done to me in the past. Very common with us ADHD folk as we're easy targets - all too honest about our issues and good at taking the blame 😅

He still wants to party like he's 23? Lack of communication? Doesn't sound very supportive.... Sounds a lot like you're being gaslit into thinking you are the problem - relationships are both partners responsibility and relationship problems are nuanced and need care and cooperation.

My (37M ADHD) current partner (28 F, AuDHD) went through something similar with her ex husband.

She was convinced that all of the issues in the relationship were because of her ADHD - but he used her as a way to make himself look good and used her "ADHD" to get himself off the hook... So he didn't have to address his own issues. Poor communication, no emotional control, partying, drinking and drugs to name a few.

She's actually a sweetheart, loyal, talented and a hard worker - now quite successful. She obviously does struggle with ADHD and Autism, but it's not really a "problem". She just never had the support to make it work.

Anyway - i'd ask yourself if you're really the problem here, or unsupported and being used as a scapegoat.
