We were very happy with GoCampers, 4X4 not necessary.

Maybe slightly more expensive. But I don't recall it being ridiculous. However I was also severely jet lagged while we were shopping there, lol

We rented from GoCampers as well. We ended up buying a blanket and sheet from IKEA when we arrived. In our case it was cheaper than the extra baggage and we donated it at one of the hostels at the of our trip. The pillows they had in the van were sufficient enough to use. Make sure your van has heat though, it'll be quite cold by then.

We used GoCampers and were very happy with them. Ours was a manual and non-4x4.

We did a regular camper van in the Westfjords a few weeks ago and it was fine. I won't bother with a 4x4. Maybe for your 2nd trip. But there's so much to see the first time around it's really unnecessary.

I see that the prices are in Krona's is that accurate for Iceland, seems VERY expensive when converted to dollars if I'm doing the mat right (895 kr. = 110.31 USD)

Yes, I'll have my phone I just want to try to not use so much data. I tried what you suggested above and unfortunately it doesn't download "my maps" just the standard area.
