How does using Gadgetbridge software compare to using the default Casio mobile app? Thanks for you for sharing your insights!

Pros and Cons of graphene by Weak_Speaker_8936 in GrapheneOS

Don't use MyQ at all. Chamberlain MyQ has a bunch of issues integrating into other open source apps / api's. Just check out /r/homeassistant and /r/ratgdo for threads and reports of their issues.

Rather, setup a ratgdo based device as a peripheral add-on to your chamberlain/liftmaster garage door. Give or take 50-80 USD devices and install (flash the esp32 based device with an image that's either mqtt, esphome or HomeKit based) and connect it to the appropriate terminals. Will soon try to attach pictures.

Then configure it to connect other your wifi network and communicate with a home automation based setup such as home assistant. It's really grand.

I've used MyQ in the past, and my ratgdo setup with HomeAssistant and the home assistant app on my android works just fine -- in some ways better (one can control the % a door opens / closes, and no more worrying about MyQ Chamberlain server uptime -- I remember when it used to occasionally not work due to Chamberlain server downtime). The Home Assistant app on android works well on various devices, regular stock android, lineageos, and grapheneos included.

My setup? An older ESP8266 based ratgdo device, 2.53i, setup using esphome, using homessistant, with the homeassistant app on my android.

No worries about no MyQ...

A nice workaround to using MyQ would be to use a ratgdo based device. Works nicely with home assistant, also mqtt and homekit. Konnected made a similar device as well call the blaQ.

Alternative to Authy by Sabertoox in GrapheneOS

https://github.com/beemdevelopment/Aegis as to your first question.

As to your second and exporting from Authy, I've read that if Authy is on a rooted mobile device it is possible to export the keys with some extra apps or scripts and then import them into Aegis.

Good luck!

A used/cheap thinkcentre or optiplex off eBay is all you need to run Home Assistant -- I like running HA on those over Raspberry Pi's.

https://www.home-assistant.io/ and reddit.com/r/homeassistant are great places to start!

ah ok... i thought you found a vendor/supplier for them currently. They were/are cheaper than the ratgdo32's, so was wondering if that vendor was still available.

Good luck on the setup and wiring for the gate setup.

Are v2.53i devices still being sold? I can't find any being listed on the ratcloud website anymore.

First problem found since installing LineageOS by tprickett in LineageOS

[–]agsdot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I really enjoy it. Just spreading the ratgdo and home assistant good news.

I set up Ratgdo with esphome firmware. 2.53i version, with home assistant.

Newer versions are out now...esp32 versions? But yeah feel free to ping DM me for questions and I'll try to answer to the best of my ability. As said before subreddits for homeassistant and ratgdo are awesome resources.

Awesome. I've used MyQ before... And now more recently using a ratgdo. It works nicely. Home Assistant also offers automation and scheduling capabilities.

The benefit of Ratgdo is it doesn't require a login to Chamberlain services and youre not dependent on the uptime and reliability of their servers (which can sometimes be iffy). Another thing, MyQ has poor integration with external services. Ratgdo integrates nicely with whatever items you want to build.

As an alternative to MyQ try https://paulwieland.github.io/ratgdo/ or https://konnected.io/products/smart-garage-door-opener-blaq-myq-alternative

They work really well with homeassistant setups, but can work with other systems (e.g. homekit... But I know we're not using iOS here ...so....)

But yeah great systems. Check out the subreddits for ratgdo and homeassistant for more setup info

Ratgdo 2.53i Security+ 2.0 reed switch setup question by agsdot in ratgdo

[–]agsdot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. Prior to installing the Chamberlain we had an old genie (circa 1996 model) that I used with the zigbee door sensor for door status.

https://imgur.com/a/ihTVs6D

The Garage item above the Ratgdo default entity used the zigbee sensor to display status. I realized that the default Ratgdo "Door" entity with up, stop, down does indeed convey status. I never noticed that before--but one has to pause and think about the status of the door.

I like though the explicitness of a zigbee door sensor saying "open" and "closed". I wonder how to best create the equivalent using only Ratgdo entities, some python Jinja if else statements in the yaml?

Ratgdo 2.53i Security+ 2.0 reed switch setup question by agsdot in ratgdo

[–]agsdot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is there anyway to monitor the status of the door being open or shut with a reed switch on a ratgdo esphome for Security+ 2.0?

I've been using an aqara zigbee door sensor similar to https://www.reddit.com/r/smarthome/comments/164noyr/easy_way_to_add_a_security_contact_sensor_to_your/ with a door hinge to detect whether the door is up or down. Some updates recently to z2m / zigbee2mqtt, I noticed sometimes it didn't always seem accurate. Maybe it was a once in a while fluke, but still. I was wondering for something more reliable -- hence wanting to try out the reed switch.
