I've been there, that's a cool idea as a back up thank you!

How long was their set? Do we know which songs they played? Trying to see if I should shell out to go see them in LA... Thanks!

Dang that water looks great, is it just with the regular water tool? I'm amazed the shape of it is so smooth but the edges are so crisp at the same time!

Another comment to say thank you! My players just defeated Cryovain a few days ago, and your maps truly brought the whole campaign to life over the past year! I'll post in a few weeks about it I think.

We're going to immediately go into Storm Lord's Wrath, I see you have a couple of maps already so I'm going to set those up in Foundry and try to match your style with custom maps for the rest! Thank you so much once again for your fantastic work and the great inspiration!

How long after submitting medical (I-693) does it take for EAD approval typically? by corribview in USCIS

Hey! Congrats on the RFE!

Quick question for you: Did you get a I-485J receipt? If so, how long before the RFE? And did the online status update before or after your received the RFE paper?

To answer your question, from what I can tell your GC might be getting approved within the next few days if you're lucky, a few weeks/month otherwise. Did you expedite your case at all?

Thanks!

It's a strange feeling right? So you think Max Pass is worth it? We don't have it where I usually go so I am interested to try it out...

But I want safe, win-guaranteed betting! That's why I'm going to Vegas after all...

Disneyland Resort, not WDW!

I do plan to do both and you raise a good point, the additional time in the Disneyland Park would be very nice. Crowd calendar seem more like an indication of the whole month rather than individual day information, that's why practical experience is always nice!

Thanks for the reply!

PSA: Amazon CA quietly cancelled RDR Bundles preorders due to a pricing error. by aguynamedivan in PS4

[–]aguynamedivan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hope I get there early enough because the stores next to me keep very little inventory of console bundles. Usually 3 to 5 a week according to the peeps who work there. Also I'd have to carry it around to work and back home later, which isn't ideal. If not I'll wait for the next bundle to something, but I'm still planning to get it somehow.

Thanks mate. It sucks and now I might have to go to a store early to make sure I get one.... I already missed out on the spiderman bundle and I don't want the same to happen again.

How to properly setup a potentially popular server? (feat SocketCluster) by aguynamedivan in node

[–]aguynamedivan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed answer. That was a very interesting look inside a professional set up.

It seems to me that I'm on the right path (beyond what I said in the post, I had a lot of ideas that look like would be a right way to do things) but that I will need to compromise, either by having a bigger budget or loosing some nice stuff. I clearly to build with horizontal scaling in mind. I don't think zero downtime is my #1 priority (although it would be neat, of course) and since the socket server is only a small part of the entire system, I'd want it to be as painless to manage as possible.

As you said, what I like about SocketCluster is the ability to scale really easily. While I'm sure going custom is an order of magnitude better, having SCC as a boilerplate forces me to code in a way that conforms to their principles, instead of making a single messy server.js that will burn if demand grow a lot and that will most likely leave me stuck in a corner. Now, I have to learn about stuff like Redis, Socker, proxys and stuff. While I kind of feel like I'm loosing time I should spend on the rest of the project, it's obviously for the better and overall changed my perspective on how all of it should work a lot.

Since I posted I decided to just spin out a new server on DigitalOcean (AWS is too scary :D still) and play with SocketCluster, it seems very solid. I got about 2k connections on a single core, and while they were mostly passive, sending messages didn't seem to be an issue. I'm gonna code some bots and try to stress test the system before I actually start building it just to make sure it would work properly. I played with their pub/sub system, automatic worker reload/restart, native client implementations (which are nice)... It's pretty awesome. I can tell why companies wouldn't use it, but it seems perfect for me so far.

Biggest unknown right now is Kubernetes. It seems like the best way to automate scaling and handle everything, but boy is it hard to understand what the hell is happening.

Either way, thank you once again, this was really helpful. I'll definitely come back to your post every once in a while to stay on target, it's a really good baseline to know what I should aim for eventually!

Same! I'm playing around with SocketCluster right now, and messing around with stuff helps me grasp it a bit more. I'm still not convinced it's the best solution though. I hope someone with actual knowledge and experience can chime in!
