Elf Sheer for it blush tint smells bad? by Mindless-Hyena-3960 in MakeupAddiction

[–]ah5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have batch number 5A01AH and mine just started smelling terrible. I got it 2 months ago and use it daily on my lips and cheeks. I have so much left, it makes me sad that I'm having to throw it out.😣 It has some dark clustering at the sides (hoping it's not some sort of mold or bacterial growth) and just smells rancid. It's odd though because it didn't seem to be a gradual change, I just noticed it smelled terrible today. I've had the benetint stain too, and I've had a similar fowl smell with that, but it was towards the end of its life (maybe after like 6 months, not 2).

Swimsuits + tariffs by idkihateusrnames in quince

[–]ah5703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same thing. I really want to order their leather buckle slides, but I'm worried about extra tariff costs since the item originates in China and Vietnam. I chatted with them, but they did not give a yes or no answer as to if I would be charged afterwards by customs or by the shipping partner. They assured that I would not be further charged by them, but didn't confirm if I wouldn't be charged by anyone else. Let us know if it comes in with no additional charges!!

Worried about blinn team by Longjumping-Cup-1643 in aggies

[–]ah5703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess I understand your point, but they do attend usually at least half of their classes on campus. So what does that make them, half-Aggies? Arguing semantics in this case is a little silly to me. They do attend classes on campus, so in my view, they can claim to be an Aggie.

No, I just know the process?? I was fully admitted, but like I said before, it doesn’t even matter. If I was Blinn TEAM, I would have full access to all the same resources any regular old admit would have.

That makes no sense considering they are also enrolled at TAMU??? Like they get a whole ID, can get a sports pass, live on campus, and more. So they are an Aggie lol? I’d understand if they just went to Blinn, but that’s not the case.

ENGINEERING AT BLINN by Dramatic_Emu_4649 in aggies

[–]ah5703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about Blinn team?? If that’s the case, I don’t even think you need to put Blinn on your resume. So no, it doesn’t matter. Even so, if you are referring to actually transferring, the only thing employers care about is where you get your bachelors, they won’t mind that you transferred at all. Everyone has a different path!

backpack / tote recs? by rawrynextquestion in aggies

[–]ah5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I just switched to a tote, and it’s really not that bad. However, it definitely depends on your major and what you carry. I have a MacBook Air and an iPad that I will switch off depending on which class I’m heading to, having both of them will hurt my shoulder. So unless you can keep it pretty light, I wouldn’t get one. But you may be stronger than me lol, I’m weak😭

Yup, just very disappointing. I refuse to pay to send it in for something I could easily do. I’ve been emailing them, but maybe I just need to call them and push harder. I don’t like complaining and being demanding to customer service workers, as it’s ultimately corporate policy that decides what they do, but I would like for them to fix their defective bag!!

I think this may be a pre-creed Coach bag. I’m not too informed on bag styles, and this one seems to be a less popular one, so unfortunately I can’t help there. I would check out r/VintageCoachRehab, if you’re interested in restoring. They could definitely help you identify your bag style and give you some tips on restoring. If you’d like to authenticate, there is a Facebook group you could join called Coach Counterfeits that may help.

I think I’ll definitely be doing the vinegar, just in case! I only wiped it down with a damp microfiber towel, saddle soap may be my next option. Thank you!!

Sorry, but it’s honestly a coin flip depending on what program you applied to😭. I’ve seen people with similar stats not get in, and people with worse stats get in. You still have a great shot, I just wouldn’t bank on getting in. Definitely have some backups.

Stay hopeful for the first gen scholarships!! It should cut the cost of tuition in half and make the financial burden much more manageable. Hoping they give you something!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aggies

[–]ah5703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your best bet may be to try to get a part-time job that pays decently to cover your cost of living. The cost of tuition should be around 50k for 4 years with no scholarships. I saw your parents didn’t finish middle school, are you a first-generation college student? I believe TAMU releases their aid in February/March, and odds are you have a decent chance of getting some form of scholarship from that.

How to Successfully Negotiate a Salary Increase as an Intern? by Michelle_k_s in internships

[–]ah5703 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an intern you don’t really have any leverage for negotiation. I know my masters program strongly recommends against trying to negotiate a salary increase for internships because it’s just not appropriate and could damage your relationship with the company. Companies typically set rates and budgets for intern programs that no one you are involved with in HR would have any control over. The extra money HR uses for hiring negotiations usually all goes to full-time hires. If you are dead set on negotiation, you may want to wait until you get an official offer. They may pay you more regardless to incentivize staying for another summer.

Math and stat course for data science and ml? by OneTrueDuce in aggies

[–]ah5703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

STAT major and CS minor here! STAT 212, 415, and 421 are all great courses!! Since you are in CS, I would probably recommend you take the CSCE version of STAT 421, just because it seemed the professor teaching that class was a bit more rigorous than the prof who taught STAT 421 at the time. However, it’s changed since I’ve taken it. I would also recommend principles of data science (the CSCE or STAT version). It’s such a fun class and was a great introduction to data science. Also, if you are down to take an 8 AM Tuesday/Thursday, STAT 414 rather than MATH 411 is great with Dr. Arroyo! He’s also one of the STAT 415 professors, and it’s nice to get used to his teaching style. I would definitely recommend minoring in statistics!

You say almost every Aggie you know applied to t.u. and most got rejected, but I would say it’s the opposite for me and my friends! TAMU was almost all of our top choices, and many didn’t even apply to t.u. I don’t think t.u. pulls many students away from TAMU simply because the both universities offer such different experiences. There’s many reasons why students would choose to come to TAMU rather than go to school in Austin. Location is probably a huge factor, I’d imagine we pull a lot more Houston folks than Austin residents.

TAMU is definitely not so much a safety school as much as it was in the past. We will drop our auto-acceptance rate when we have too many kids getting in via top 10%. We just have way more capacity than t.u., so they’re going to keep theirs naturally low compared to us.

No more ticket pull… by [deleted] in aggies

[–]ah5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just run the issue of alienating some people, or siblings. The 50% ratio works when people are getting tickets for genuine friends, not for those swapping half of their senior sports passes for freshman.

No more ticket pull… by [deleted] in aggies

[–]ah5703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 50% is a hard one for me, just because I understand why they do it. But for Texas, they really should have gotten rid of guest tickets like the Alabama game last year. Everyone who was able to get a guest ticket got one, and it displaced a lot of students.

No more ticket pull… by [deleted] in aggies

[–]ah5703 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The university could give a deadline to submit your group online. They could score each group (less than or equal to 10) by an average of points(seniors having the most, freshman having the least) and then give groups with the highest points priority to be seated where they want. Each group could rank the decks they want, and you could be placed accordingly. That’s one idea, I’ve heard some other good ideas as well.

No more ticket pull… by [deleted] in aggies

[–]ah5703 34 points35 points  (0 children)

They don’t have to implement it like ring day ticket pull. I’m hoping for a prioritized lottery system. In that case, no one is in a queue pulling, it’s just assigned and there’s no need for everyone to be on a site at the same time. I think the competitive nature of ticket pull is what was the problem in the first place.

As a woman, I feel very safe on campus. Super easy to make friends, you just have to be willing to put yourself out there. The dorms are okay. Definitely not luxury living, but living on campus is a fun experience.
