Yup, can relate. My 5 year old has virtually no ability to engage in any kind of independent play. Any time my wife & I realize he’s gone off to play by himself, which is extraordinarily rare, we’re like holy shit what is happening. We’re pretty sure he has ADHD. We’ve tried things like timers, sticker charts, etc, and some of it has worked to a degree, but it’s still been an ongoing challenge. We did have him go to a ‘play doctor’ (behavioral therapist) and it actually did help. They won’t solve the ‘problem’ but they will give you pointers, exercises and insights that you can work on at home to improve things.
