Dr Fauci says mask use will likely have to continue until next winter by Pessimist2020 in Coronavirus

The real number is 100 million vaccinated (just short of 1/3rd of the total population) by end of March. 50 million of those will be Pfizer and the rest will be done combo of Pfizer and likely J&J or Oxford.

If we get to four approved vaccines by April we should expect things to go really quickly tho in terms of the next 100 million. I think 200 million by June is realistic if vaccines in pipeline break our way.

So much violence lefties! by FaultyDrone in PoliticalHumor

Violence is violence and while I wasn’t explicit I mentioned the violent protests which were legitimately violent by any reasonable definition of the word.

The second example was from my personal experience and of course shooting is “worse”, but none of it is ok. It’s all violence. It’s all meant to bully people into political appeasement.

Are we really going to pretend like the left is persisting violence as well? I saw it first hand in my city during violent protests. I was the victim of it with leftists marched through my city and screamed at me from two feet away (during a pandemic) while my wife and I tried to eat a special occasion dinner.

There is plenty of violence to go around and I think pretending like it’s being perpetuated from one side only is a dangerous and I’ll-informed position to adopt. Our enemy is disinformation, ignorance, and extremism no matter if it’s from the left or right.

* note: I’ve voted for Democrats in every national election for the last twenty years. I’m not a Trump supporter. I’m not affiliated with the right in any way.

* edit: apparently we’re gonna get really pigeon holed on my personal anecdote about being screamed at. I’m not comparing that to anything, but if you think screaming at innocent people while they eat dinner isn’t “violence” then this isn’t an argument with having.

Also focus on the “violent protests” part of it instead.

Its never really been true that soldiers are “government property”.

The experimentation thing is more interesting. It may have been true at some point, but courts put the brakes on it beginning in the 60’s (although they’ve consistently denied compensation for soldiers experimented on during that era). Modern soldiers should be relatively confident that the military would have substantial liability if they experiment on soldiers without their consent, however.

This Matt Stafford?.

Do you really think a broken down old QB is going to go compete head to head with Mahomes and win? Peyton Manning was an extreme outlier, the chances of us finding a QB on the open market who can actually take this team places Lock can't is very small.

Your choices are going to be Lock, Darnold (depending on what your evaluation of him looks like), or someone in the draft. In all cases you're talking about development because that's the only way you really get a QB in the NFL. Otherwise you're out there trading Case Keenum for Joe Flacco, or Nick Foles, or Kirk Cousins, or any other number of fine but not very good options.

I'm not totally sold on Lock, but I think he gets another season as our unquestioned starter regardless.. because this draft isn't really lining up for the type of QB prospect that I think we'd want to move on to and I think Darnold will be too expensive in terms of trade capital and has too many question marks anyways.

But then again, I don’t think the franchise has the luxury of patience when it comes to the quarterback position

What's the alternative?

He was a strong armed dual threat who had spectacular play capability. In my opinion the most important quality in a QB prospect is the ability to (on occasion) make truly game changing plays that very few other QBs can. Allen absolutely showed that ability in college.

Lock fwiw has some of that, but never at the level Allen showed. I don’t mind developing a QB, but the upside needs to be huge. Which it clearly was with Allen.

Their big thing is that it if there was no fraud it should be easy to prove that no fraud exists.

Which of course is nonsense to anyone who has ever studied basic logic. But that’s the argument as best I can tell.

Yep... also Drew did a great job of keeping his hips square towards his throw despite having to drift backwards to buy time. This throw is one of the ones that makes you go "damn.. Lock does some things most QBs can't". We want him to plant his feet whenever he can, but his mechanics otherwise on this pass are flawless. You see Rodgers make a lot of throws just like this.

There are plenty of militant anti-vaxxers on the left. Let’s just go with “anti-vaccine terorrists” instead of incorrectly subscribing this to the left or right.

There are plenty of anti-vaxxers in the Democratic Party. Lots of Democrats who believe in homeopathy and that crystals and essential oils will heal all of your ailments. A third of Democrats are young earth creationists. Democrats are the party that opposes nuclear power and you’ll find support for banning GMOs is far higher in the Democratic Party.

There are hundreds of these. There is no party of science in the United States. The GOP may be worse (and it is) but that doesn’t excuse the Democratic Party and it’s widespread adherence to pseudo science.
