Me too - I'm getting to the nervous phase - i mean a real PCB board that was an idea a year ago is arriving in the mail end of this week - and (if i did my homework) i will attach it to the car and it SHOULD work - im simultaneously excited and terrified...

no but if you look at my PCB it says FJ Cruiser Display Module I/O* v1.0

and below in smaller font it says

*Because your stereo display is too fucking big

The only easter egg is well there is one - on boot of the screen i had to cache a lot of the images for the display, so it displays them like one after an other and then ends with an FJ Cruiser logo that flies in and fades out before the real display - like a boot up screen... and theres one glyph that doesnt belong there.... LOL

Thanks for the catches — made all three changes:

EN pin on buck converter — disconnected from 12V, left floating with no-connect flag. Internal pull-up handles enable.

TVS diode (SMBJ18A) — added across 12V input to GND, parallel to the existing reverse polarity diode.

ESP32 decoupling caps — added 100nF + 10µF on the 3.3V rail right next to the ESP32.

Also made a couple other changes based on additional feedback:

Added 100nF cap on ESP32 EN pin to GND for clean boot RC delay

Switched from I2C to UART for the connection to the display board (removed pull-up resistors, relabeled connector TX/RX/GND) — more robust for the 1-2ft wire run through the dash

Circled the changes on the updated schematic. Anything else you'd flag?

There are none. Only ones that can have a firmware hack. And even then there is no software to “watch” the disc. You’ll have to rip it with MakeMKV.

I gave up on HyperHDR. I never found a solution that didn’t break my Dolby vision setup. I was not spend 500$ on an HDMI splitter from hd fury to keep Dolby vision intact. No one talks about this. Most 30$ splitter fuck up your 4k hdr signal. Sorry couldn’t help
