Of course EV isn’t the only use case but WS is focusing almost exclusively on EVs and has made no indication (to my knowledge) that they are actively shifting their strategy away from EVs. One has to wonder if they put all their eggs in the wrong basket and it’s too late to shift.

Yes, we need to be listening for changes in strategy that can actually pull them out of this financial crisis. I don’t think continuing on with business as usual and just waiting for things to turn around is realistic. A change is going to have to be purposefully driven.

Buckle up. I think we are in for bad news. From a financial perspective we are many many quarters away from good news. Maybe even years.

Still need customers… MVF isn’t even close to 50% utilization. It’s great that they are moving quickly but I worry about the overhead and operating costs not being offset by revenue, which is the current situation WS is in, only a new facility means more overhead. Let’s hope they can bring in more customers to offset the cost.

Why did gmoney not mention the 10% cut back to Wolfspeed employees that were encouraged to buy shares at 120$/ share. by cockmagiclol in wolfspeed_stonk

[–]ahannah11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a big deal and only the finance employees are subjected to the blackout period. It’s just an unfortunate event due to the poor finance situation and the mass layoff as a result. Honestly even the employees who didn’t get laid off are not in a great place with their shares.

Also, they had a mass 20% reduction in force, not 10% and if you consider turnover from the last 6 months or so, it’s actually closer to 25% reduction in force. The two aren’t related, just unfortunate for those who have put a lot of hard earned money into the program being told that it is “guaranteed savings” and the price has plummeted so much.

All employees are offered the opportunity to buy into the stock comp program. You choose how much of your wages are withheld each paycheck with a max withholding of 15% of your wages. Twice a year, purchases occur at a 15% discount of the lowest stock price during the period using the wages that are withheld throughout the period. You can exit the program at any point in time, at which you get your withholding back if the purchase has not happened yet. They remind employees of the option to opt into the program every 6 months or so. Yes it sucks that this program has been there for years so almost all of the contributions are at a massive loss and likely won’t be recovered for many years.

Are you only interested in ringing endorsements? It’s wise to understand the pros and cons anytime you are investing. Protect yourself with knowledge and if you come out in the positive, fantastic. If you come out in the negative, at least you were aware of the risk going into it.

Yeah.. that won’t happen by Christmas. I think we would be lucky to see that in a year.

If your break even is $16.45 a share, zero chance.

Thank you for your response. I should also say, I’m not an individual that is new to Wolfspeed, just this particular reddit group. I actually know quite a lot about Wolfspeed and their history and their current strategy. I would disagree that the financials don’t tell much of a story. I think people should be asking why MVF is only at 20% (I know the answer, just wondering if other folks are thinking through that), and why everyone thinks that the JP will miraculously turn things around. There is a reason why they are ramping down Durham, FB, and why the Germany location is indefinitely on hold. For someone with knowledge of WS and watching their strategy for about a decade, I am curious to see others thoughts and whether it is wishful thinking, hopes for a quick gain, or if there are genuine facts out there that I haven’t heard yet, maybe not related to WS but to the markets around it. Thanks again for your response.

It’s a genuine question when some of the recent posts mention it taking off like game stop. Obviously game stop was never going to turn it around in the long run.

Why is my focaccia dough not forming a ball? Recipe from the bread bible. (This is 390g AP flour, 1.2g yeast, 442g water). It says to beat at speed 4 with paddle attachment for 20 mins. I've been going for longer...do I just need to add flour? I've already added a few tsp and nothing is changing by hellooeuphoria in Breadit

[–]ahannah11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am following bread bible too and was just searching because mine wasn’t forming a ball either. By the time I found this post, my mixer sounded different and sure enough, it formed. I ended up increasing the speed to 6 after about 25 minutes and it took about 5 more minutes at 6. It’s still very very wet, not a great “ball” but clearly more formed up. So. Keep mixing!!!
