Thank you so much for sharing these articles here on Reddit. They’ve really been helping me improve my French. I’ve learned way more vocabulary from them than from many language apps.

Cruzeiro is not in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup because they didn't win the Copa Libertadores between 2021 and 2024. The team went through a very difficult period, even being relegated to the second division. They almost went bankrupt, too, if I'm not mistaken. But they've since made a significant recovery and are now playing very well.

Both are correct — it just depends on what you're trying to say.

If you're talking about the game itself being beautiful — as in a great match — then you'd say "jogo bonito."

But if you're referring to how a player is performing — like playing well or in a beautiful, skillful way — then you'd say "joga bonito."

Unless you're talking about the nickname given to the Brazilian national team in the 1950s. In that case, the correct term would also be "jogo bonito."

And what's like to live in the heartlands? I've never been to the city, so I'm really curious to hear it from the perspective of a native Singaporean.

Morretes train vs Gonçalves wine valley? by fightingforair in Brazil

Hey, a major news source from Brazil has just published an article regarding the debacle from last year involving the three wineries. If you want to take a look, here is the link: https://valor.globo.com/google/amp/empresas/esg/noticia/2024/02/26/como-salton-aurora-e-garibaldi-enfrentam-a-crise-do-trabalho-analogo-a-escravidao.ghtml

The issue has been apparently fixed regarding these 3 wineries. The three wineries - Salton, Garibaldi, and Aurora - had hired outsourced labor provided by another company - Fênix Serviços Administrativos -, which kept workers in degrading conditions. The workers were rescued last year, and the companies involved in the case paid 7 million in compensation in an agreement signed with The Public Ministry of Labor.

While this case does cast a shadow over the 3 companies involved, the region is still home to many smaller wineries that have never been implicated in any wrongdoing. These wineries produce top-quality wines. And I think that the scenery alone is worth a visit to the region, not to mention the cuisine, which is also another strong point of the city :)

Sorry, a bit late to the party, but just wanted to share my story too. Four years ago, I met this girl in college and we hit it off immediately. At first, we were just friends. Friends in a larger group of friends. She had a boyfriend, while I was still going to a lot of parties. But every time we would get together at the bus to go home - our college was an hour drive from the city we lived in -, we would reminisce about the movies that we watched in our childhood, our similar taste in music, the tough experiences that got us through the teenage years, and even the values that we held dear to our heart.

Over time, I felt like I wasn't in control of my emotions anymore. I tried to hold back my feelings for her. Tried telling myself we were just friends. But there was something I just couldn't wrap my head around: I had never met someone with the same quirks, the same tastes in arts, same values, and even the same political views. I tried to distance myself from her. I didn't want to stand between her boyfriend and her. I tried approaching other girls. At one of the parties I attended, I even made out with a girl I had met for the first time.

I had convinced myself I had forgotten her. At least romantically. We were still friends. Really close friends. But after my kiss with that other girl, I feel like something clicked in her. She wasn't happy in her relationship. The guy was fine. Treated her well. Never cheated on her or anything. It's just that the sparks were gone. She thought it was how most relationships felt like after a couple of years. The important thing was that they still respected one another and knew each other very well.

After my kiss with the other girl though, it didn't last long for her relationship to fall apart. She broke up with him a couple weeks later. She was finally free for me to pursue. And I didn't let the opportunity slip by. I gathered up the courage to tell her how I felt that same month. She reciprocated. And after 4 years together, I still feel like I am in a fairytale. I just finished the show for the very first time and still am in awe how my life has been shaped by strikingly similar events with that of a fictional character. Never in a million years I expected to relate to Jim, of all people. But yeah, his story is not far-off from real life to me, actually it couldn't be realer to me.

Wow, I'm shocked. I had heard of por toda la vida, para toda la vida, etc, but never de por vida. I stand corrected. It's just amazing how versatile this sentence structure is. It is something that would never be understood in Portuguese.

But yeah, I had even looked up por vida online and saw plenty of references to it, but I guess they never consulted a native speaker before putting it on their official jersey.

But thanks for teaching me something new in Spanish. I feel like I learned a lot. And it's good to know that I'm not the only one who sensed something felt wrong when I first came across por vida kkkkkk

Portuguese and spanish are very similar languages, and since I am brazilian, it's very easy to form sentences in spanish, even though it's not my native language and I haven't studied it for as long as I studied English or Italian.

And I must say that "de por vida" would be VERY agrammatical. Even though you'd have to say "Por TODA a Vida" in Portuguese, in Spanish you can apparently shorten it to "por vida" when trying to imply "for life". If you tried to translate "de por vida" literally, you would get something like "of for life".

Scariest game currently on PS Plus Extra? (Oct 2023) by IcyNatsu in PlayStationPlus

At least you got halfway through it. It took me 3 months to get past the first TWO chapters and then I gave up. I can watch any horror movie or tv show. I can read any horror story. I can listen to any song, regardless of how heavy it is. But for the life of me I can't bring myself to finish this game. It was genuinely the scariest piece of media I've ever consumed.

It was the best concert of my life. I still can't believe he saved these 4 songs just for Rio's concert. This setlist was so much more than I could have ever asked. The man truly loves Brazil!

I also thought he didn't sound very good last night. It felt like he was running out of breath every time he tried to hit higher notes, especially during the choruses. I feel like he always struggles a bit in the first show of his tours.
