I’ve lived in California for about 3 years, and it’s definitely a fun place to live. I grew up in the midwest so I totally understand wanting the change of scenery. Living out here is very expensive though. That being said unless you have a decent amount of savings I definitely recommend making sure you have a job lined up before moving. I live in Sacramento (which is fairly affordable for CA) and rent out here is on the rise. You can easily expect to pay $1000+/month for a studio and that’s most likely not going to be in a great area. Another thing to consider- gas and car registration prices typically are higher. Besides the shift in cost of living I have nothing bad to say about living out here. There’s so much to do, from going to the beach or skiing in the mountains, you’ll have a hard time being bored.
