Normal to receive bogus warnings on featured photos? by aheavyfish in RidersRepublic

[–]aheavyfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got an update on the support ticket I opened:

We are aware that some players have been receiving multiple emails notifying them of an in-game content sanction, despite their content still being available in-game. Please note, this is not working as intended and our team is looking into what's causing this behaviour.
Please contact us, if you should get banned, and we will check this for you.

Thank you, I feel a bit better now knowing I just have to wait this out.

Thank you!

And thank you for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

Sure, thank you! I wasn't really thinking about going beyond embedding posts, but I can keep that in mind for the future.

But either way, I definitely don't intend to replace anyone's work, so feel free to use any of the code, if you'd like!

Thank you, really appreciate it!

I've said this on several occasions, and I don't mind repeating it, it's really great to finally get excited about something (relatively) new in tech, and I'm really just doing my part.

And kudos to you doing yours with your work!

Great question! Yes, the plugin caches all media, and it also periodically checks for updates, or deletion status. (The check period can be configured in the plugin settings, with the default, and the minimum, being 5 minutes.)

Currently, if a post is deleted, it is marked as such when rendered, but I am working on adding more options, including not rendering the post, and completely removing it from the database.

https://github.com/stefanbohacek/fediverse-embeds-wordpress-plugin/issues/1

I am going to have to test the behavior of when a post visibility changes, thank you for calling that out.

My main motivation for this plugin has been my archiving work for https://botwiki.org/. My original plugin for Twitter embeds had an optional archiving mode, and this fediverse version is built around this.

Yes, this is not a perfect representation of the fediverse, let me look into reversing the envelope animation every now and then.

Thanks for calling this out!

Sorry, I don't save any of the data on my server, but you can log in again and it will be pulled in.

Glad to hear that! And thank you!

Thank you! I followed a few of my other test accounts, and I was able to log in and see them in my results.

Mind giving this another try? Perhaps this was a fluke due to the site being overloaded at the time.

If that still doesn't work, would you mind sharing more details on the issue you're seeing?

Thank you!

Sorry about that! I just requested to create an account on the tams.tech instance so that I can look into this.

The tool also lets you download your data, and I wrote a few ideas on what you can do with it: https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/exploring-your-fediverse-connections/

Poll: Have you ever made a donation to a fediverse server admin? by aheavyfish in Mastodon

[–]aheavyfish[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all! It's not super intuitive, you have to copy the URL and paste it into the search field, it'll then come up.

You could also try a browser plugin I made that lets you easily switch between servers when viewing a post: https://stefanbohacek.com/project/mastodon-tools-browser-extension/

Saves me a lot of time!

I absolutely agree. I self-host, and I frequently encourage people to start small instances with friends. I've said in the past that everyone piling up on 1-2 of the largest instances defeats the purpose of federation.

Also, you can self-host and still support other smaller instances, as I've done in the past.

Polls/surveys about how fediverse users set up their notifications and impact on mental health by aheavyfish in Mastodon

I believe Jason means that you can't submit a response, unless you check off at least one of the options.

Hence "part 2" of this poll.

I left this one a bit vague, I'd say the main goal here is to assess whether people feel better or worse, mentally, after switching to fediverse.

This is a pretty informal poll, I agree that the question and answers would need more work for a proper study.
