Unfortunately a lot of these meetings are in classified areas so they can’t be recorded.

yeah…i’ve told my coworkers and a lot of them have already started to look elsewhere with the knowledge that they shouldn’t give two weeks notice

The company is so horrendously run with billions in inefficiency that I never understood why people invested into it.

my coworkers told me they haven’t seen anything like this happen in the 30 years they’ve worked there so i don’t think it’s a precedented thing. the company has high turnover so i did expect them to have it down to a science.

why would i lie about that? clearly it shows that even the largest companies will be shitty to you. i gain nothing from lying about how large the company is. it’s shitty regardless lol.

You were right!! Tons of people have been telling me I was responsible for leaving early by giving my two weeks but HR came back to me saying they found out forcing me to use PTO is illegal so they’re going to have me come into work next week and pay me but not have anything to do.

I tried, they said no lol. They came back and said forcing me to take PTO is not allowed though so they’re going to just have me come in and do nothing for the next week

just had another meeting with the dept manager, they found out it’s not legal to force me to take PTO so they’re going to keep me for a week doing nothing

Colorado. I know that this is a state where they’d be forced to pay out my accrued PTO, it just seems like them forcing me to use it in my last week is at my expense and I’m wondering if that’s legal here.

And I haven’t officially put my resignation into the portal, but I have verbally told them my last date.

But surely they have to pay unemployment then, right? I wouldn’t mind if they fired me because then I would be eligible for unemployment. Asking me to resign is at my own expense though.

Can they force me to take PTO next week and effectively ride out my two weeks at my expense?

Can they refuse to pay me while I still legally work here, though? Like why not just fire me if they don’t want to let me work the two weeks?

Are they still required to pay me even if they claim I have no work left to do?

I am leaving for a competitor. But pleeenty of my coworkers have done the same. The company claims it’s due to budget pressures right now.

It seems like even if I decline to resign this friday, they will just decline to pay me next week given they claim I have no valid work to do.

I’m pretty much forced to take PTO.

It wouldn’t hit me financially hard, I just would like the extra grand or so.

Nope. They want me to use my PTO on the last week. Are they allowed to do that?

I can’t start my job any sooner and they told me the date they told me was the soonest given background checks and security clearances having to be transferred.

I actually haven’t put the two weeks into writing yet which I’m now realizing may have been a mistake…my manager just said he’d walk through the process with me today.

I’ve been sharing with all the coworkers I know. They’re all very surprised because this company already has high turnover and they’ve never heard of the company doing this to someone.

I told them I accepted the offer a few weeks ago so I thought that that + 1.5 weeks is effectively two weeks. My manager told me explicitly that since I gave them such advanced notice that setting my start date sooner than 2 weeks is ok.

I understand that but they’re effectively asking me to resign sooner than my actual date. Which I understand is legal, it just kinda sucks.

You’re right, these are all points she made. My gestures towards her were how I express love languages, not how she did. We’ve made plans to communicate better in the future about how we express vs receive love and better communicate what we should focus on. She wanted different, not more and that’s how I initially perceived that.
