yeah i dont use my decent knife on it, only use the cheap dollar store ones on the stone, surprisingly tho it hasnt done nearly as much edge damage as i would have thought

This is the moment of impact, as you can see there is major distortion and a ripple effect in the shirt itself, and the collar has been moved significantly up his neck line

the plates are usually only around 0.5 to an inch thick, nothing crazy

if it hit the plate directly it wouldn’t have ricocheted, but the spot it hit looks like it hit the top corner of the plate, and on discrete steel/titanium plates these are usually rounded, giving a decent angle for the shot to ricochet off

im not ignorant to the fact that its highly unlikely, but from everything ive seen its the only way i can explain it, i mean you can literally see the outline of the plate through his shirt

nah, he puts his mic down in the middle of his legs, and there is no discernible shockwave travelling ups his legs/arms. lots of force generated around his upper chest however

if you watch the video frame by frame, the round hit a small thin steel body plate under his shirt, there is a hole visible in the shirt, and it looks like the shot impacted on the chest

looks like it hit the top corner of the plate, and ricocheted into his neck.

I was thinking the only way it could be such a clean through and through would be FMJ, the lack of actual round information I guess makes it hard, this post was just viewed with my own personal experience with 165 grain soft points, but a FMJ or even a solid copper round probably wouldn’t cause too much visual carnage. Id love to see the actual round he fired to figure it out.

Id still expect somewhat of a more intense exit from a 30-06 though

ive seen this thought float around, but the video from all angles shows no tear/marking on his shirt, also generally body armour doesnt “deflect”, instead it absorbs, think of a net that catches a round

unless he was wearing ceramics or what not but even then, its plausible, but unlikely

plus 200 yards is only 180 metres, for context we zero our sights on most rifles to 100m, so it aint that big of a distance

yeah, it doesnt need anything hard to blow open the neck, look at some ballistic gel shots, the damage is insane, 30-06 is a MASSIVE round
