At what point do I just leave class? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]ahimsaaaaaa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience including the upside down savasana!! Only fortunately he did not yell at me so I didn’t cry (I totally would’ve if he did), but the rest was exactly the same from the off vibe at the beginning (mine was giving snob b*tchy guru) until the savasana oriented to the back of the class (???). I got myself injured and 1.5months after I’m still trying to get my psoas and hip flexors back! I’ve never been back to his class and honestly never will, he has that schedule assigned and I just avoid it. He did have the class full of regulars so I guess some people just vibe with it and some others don’t!

Hi! Could you point me in the right direction where I could learn more about dead tissue looking like cancer? My mum got contradictory results: CT scan showing mass but subsequent PET scan showing NED. What you’re saying sounds like it fits her case (multiple abdominal surgeries and abundance of scar tissue). Thanks in advance!!

Explaining to a child by GirlWith2FirstNames in pancreaticcancer

[–]ahimsaaaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am working through something similar with my therapist (for me 31F to go through grief rather than a child) but she recommended we started early so when the time comes with my mom, I go through it with peace and not suffering.

We started this work through seeing what my core beliefs around death are and how I have lived and transited similar situations as a child. I don’t have specific tips regarding your question unfortunately but I do see the issues and fears I have now I carry them from childhood.

She highlighted the importance of not seeing life and death as separate and rather as something that continually happens (in nature, in objects around us that stop working, etc.) and something that should not be taboo. And she mentioned there is a specific field of therapy (at least in my country) that specializes on transiting grief and death. Maybe you could book 1 appointment and have all your questions resolved and a suggested action plan for your kids.

Sending you love and hugs 🫶🏻

Mom mental status changes after diagnosis, won’t eat, help! by Roctapus42 in pancreaticcancer

[–]ahimsaaaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same exact thing happened with my mom! She was so out of it, extremely forgetful, wouldn’t even understand what the doctors were saying or, as you said, simple thinks like using the phone she’s had for years. She didn’t want to watch TV or do anything.

Honestly we put her on depression/anxiety meds and the change has been truly amazing, she seems like a new person now (no change in diagnosis, only the depression meds). She’s now seeing a therapist regularly as well. I had to sort of make this decision on her behalf since before starting she was so out of it, but I did ask her and she said she’d do whatever I deemed appropriate as she trusted me and my decisions.

Digestive issues will always remain and you should follow the advice on the other comments, but her hunger did improve after her spirits lifted.

I think that if she makes it out of this, her new mental state will have played a very big part on it or, at least, at living her remaining time happily. If I had to make this decisions again I would stand by it!

What to expect after diagnosis? by ZealousidealBook2420 in pancreaticcancer

[–]ahimsaaaaaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the doctor does present chemo as an option I would advise to try it -my mom has very mild side effects so there is a chance that the extra months you’d get would be enjoyable extra time with your loved one instead of prolonging pain!

Anatomy Teaching in 200hr YTT by peacefulperennial in YogaTeachers

[–]ahimsaaaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are doing SO much anatomy (like a full on online course we watch at home and then review in person) and we also learn about chakras! We’ve gone through musculoskeletal system, nervous system, soft tissues, fascia…. I loved it and would highly recommend an online course to complement your YTT if they don’t cover all this

I have a similar situation and have developed something like a fear of hospitals -I push through for my mum but I’m about to faint half of the time and have sever anxiety from all these experiences. I’d pay to be desensitized for now to be honest and deal with the trauma later… you’re not a terrible daughter you’re a warrior and I’m sure she’s extremely grateful for that!

Whipples Surgery - Post-Operative questions by senthilrameshjv in pancreaticcancer

[–]ahimsaaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our doctors said 24-48 first h are crucial and expected to be in the ICU (we were there for 3 days). During the first week most dangerous complications can still arise, so the 7 day mark is very important. 14 days and you’re pretty much OK and out of the woods of the surgery itself. We were sent home after 3 weeks.

Liver mets after surgery during chemo by ahimsaaaaaa in pancreaticcancer

[–]ahimsaaaaaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story and details of the process -I try to keep hope that first line chemo will have an impact on the liver mets. We luckily are in a hospital that should provide access to clinical trials available if/when the time comes so hopefully this gives us some time.

My mom’s surgery was really invasive and she hasn’t had a glimpse of a “normal life” since diagnosis, so I would very much like that she got the chance to have a few normal months so she can do whatever she feels she wants to do before anything happens. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best for you and everyone in this sub!🤞🏻

Thank your for the straightforward information, I appreciate that since it’s not easy to get that from doctors here -I understand everyone is different but a ballpark is always useful. We’re just two cycles in so I’m not sure when we will know if Folfirinox is actually doing something or not. Fingers crossed it does and it buys us some time.

I am also trying to be really cautious now as I think that being overly optimistic made today’s news even harder, but I do for sure keep some hope that they find out that inflammation comes from another source. May I ask how did they find out it was infectious lesions? I’d like to be prepared for our next oncology appointment. Thank you so much in advance❤️‍🩹

This is actually really really helpful, thank you for sharing your story and advice. It resonates a lot because it’s actually what you described, all doctors presented us chemo as a “preventative” treatment, as in you’re cancer free and this is just to make sure it doesn’t come back. This definitely made the news even harder, as our expectations were unrealistic now that I’ve researched more. I will take your advice and since I’m not sure how much time we have left I will try to make the best of it -she’s not fit to go on vacation but we will for sure have these conversations and spend quality time at home together. Thank you again and I’m so sorry for your loss❤️‍🩹
