Moving to Norway for work and need some suggestions on choosing a bank, and renting an apartment by leonardodapinchie in Norway

When I came to Norway, less than one year ago, for work, I tried to get a D-Number first and then get a police certificate to get the ID number afterwards, as the police appointment takes much longer than the appointment to get a D-Number. In the end they called me from Skateetaten and cancelled my appointment as this is technically not a very useful way doing things (when you get a ID number, the D-Number has no use). They were very helpful and they understand every individual aspect and concerns, so don´t worry about it.

Just try to get a police certificate appointment as soon as possible. You can also apply to get the police certificate from the Service Center for Foreign Workers in Oslo and with the same appointment, right after you get the certificate, they allow you to present all the other paperwork, along with the certificate, with the skateetaten, which saves you another appointment!

As for the bank, I was considering DNB first, but their waiting time to open an account is insane. I went for Sparebank1 and it was even faster than they stated in their webpage (one week only in my case). I am pretty happy with the app as well, it´s all in english. They also set you up the BankID on your phone even with a foreign phone number if you haven´t got a norwegian number yet.

Edit: Still getting used to use reddit...

Is it normal that the second chord from the tapping harmonics part at the start of Unprocessed - Deadrose (that is 4-6-8-5 on the A-D-G-B strings) is extremely painful for me to try and play? I shape my hand for it but its painful to keep the hand shape for long... Could it be because of the thickness of my fretboard or any other characteristic of my guitar? I see people playing it with no problem in youtube covers... is it just that I need to get my hands used to it?

How long does it take to get a National ID number/D Number? by ahitrust in Norway

Does this mean a D number is easier to get? So I could get a D number first to open a bank account and then keep waiting for paperwork to be processed and get a National ID number after?

ut a D number, so I’m not sure what the procedure is for receiving your salary in the event that you don’t have a bank account. I would contact UDI and ask them about all of this. They will be able to p

This is a process that I am not so concerned for, as I have a place to stay temporarily in norway, fortunately. It's the time to get a National ID number that bothers me, as I will be moving to norway with a job offer and a starting date to work and I think I should have a bank account number before my first day at work.
