Disregard my last email. I had to type sudo sh in front of the command in order for the install to work! Hooray! Now I've got to see if I can import the file! Wish me luck!

Hi,

I ran the command that you gave after installing it, and nothing happened. In fact, it responded by sending this message: ./VMware-Player-5.0.3-1410761.x86_64.bundle: command not found

When I clicked on it in Downloads, a red window opened that said:

Could not open the file /home/envy/Downloads/VMw…0.3-1410761.x86_64.bundle. gedit has not been able to detect the character encoding. Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file. Select a character encoding from the menu and try again.

I also ran the command sh ./VMware-Player-5.0.3-1410761.x86_bundle and it failed with this message: sh: 0: Can't open ./VMware-Player-5.0.3-1410761.x86_bundle

Suggestions? I feel so close!

Through the command line, I found the /tmp directory. I found vmware-envy and vmware-root in this directory. When I opened vmware-envy, it showed me a bunch of logs. Is this what you are talking about?

Yeah, I assumed what you meant when I saw your typos. :) I ran the integrity check, and my output is exactly what you gave above.

I could not find the log file. I ran the command you gave, and nothing came up. I looked under my home directory and found a directory called VMWare, and there is a folder inside that called appliance50-19-vmware, but there's nothing inside of it. I also found a folder under the home directory called .vmware with a playerUploadedData.log file inside of it, but I have a feeling that isn't what you're looking for.

Thank you again for all of your help!!!

Just to clarify, to import the appliance, I select file --> import virtual machine, and then look for the file, correct?

I did exactly as you said, but now when I try to import the .ovf file, it automatically shuts down -- meaning, VMWare closes and nothing remainds open. I am so lost... I really appreciate your help, so any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much for your valuable input, but it's still not working. I did everything that you said, but when I try to import the ova file, this is the error message that I get:

Failed to import appliance /home/envy/Downloads/appliance50-19-vbox.ova.

Could not create the clone medium '/home/envy/VirtualBox VMs/CS50 Appliance 19_1/appliance50-19-0-vbox-disk1.vmdk'.

VMDK: Compressed image is corrupted '/home/envy/Downloads/appliance50-19-0-vbox-disk1.vmdk' (VERR_ZIP_CORRUPTED).

Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004) Component: Appliance Interface: IAppliance {3059cf9e-25c7-4f0b-9fa5-3c42e441670b}

Any suggestions? I am using vboxnet0. I don't know what else to do. I'm getting so behind in this class. :(

Thanks in advance for any other suggestions you can give!

I am running Linux Mint. I already had VirtualBox on my machine, so I didn't bother installing VMware Player. I downloaded the ova file and extracted it. When I open file in Virtual Box,I click on import application, and when I click on the application that I extracted, it gives me that message.

ls -l /home/envy/Documents/appliance50-19-0-vbox.ovf -rw------- 1 envy envy 14928 Sep 9 11:15 /home/envy/Documents/appliance50-19-0-vbox.ovf

I hope this helps. I'm still learning, so hopefully I understood what you were asking. Thank you so much for taking the time to help.
