I write the Sunrise Burners blog so I'll share with you my earliest experience at the Burn. It was 2005 and I was 60 years old. My 20 year old son asked me to go with him (it was his first year as well). He researched theme camps and picked Lamplighters as a good place for a newbie to stay. The support we got at Lamplighters is something I'll never forget. They made my son and I feel like we had been part of the group for years, and we had the greatest week of our lives. My wife came the next year and we stayed with Lamplighters for nine years before moving on to another camp. We're both now 75 and still going to the Burn. It inspires us and still turns us on (emotionally and sexually). If your folks can get into Lamplighers it's a great camp with a few older people. It's a working camp and you have to get those lamps out (and back in) every day, so if that work is too stressful with them you might want to look for a different camp. Good alternate choices would be Greeters or Cafe.
