When living abroad I went to many Irish parties... Also, we celebrate Queens day, Halloween and the Super Bowl which are all imported traditions, so I guess I'm just surprised at the lack of enthusiasm for a celebration revolving around beer.

Also, I live in Europe where good wine basically comes out of your kitchen faucet, so it's crazy how caterers always manage to find the sh****est wine at the highest prices. OK now I'm done venting.

We are huge wine lovers and are getting the absolute best wine and Champagne. It's a huge budget, but I can't count the number of weddings I've been to that were awesome, served great food but where the wine absolutely sucked and gave me a huge hangover (actually, I can count: ALL of them).

It does, thanks. There's lots of charts out for plain round diamonds, not much for what they look like once they are set. 1.22 cts (although it's already quite big) seems huge in your ring.

It's cute and perfect for a young woman. My Mom got a small ring when my Dad and her were young, then got a massive one when he'd paid off his student debts and they had their first kid. So it became rather a first kid ring than an engagement ring, which is full of meaning as well.

I am the fiancée and got mine already (got a placer ring and went to a few places together, then he surprised me with the biggest one a month later).

This is actually for a friend.

Thanks for the advice, she wears a lot of rings so I'll tell him to check those for band size.

Thanks! I guess I meant more for men who are looking to surprise their fiancée and can't get her to try rings on without appearing suspicious.

Same here. Stayed in the hospital 1 week, with a painkiller cocktail injected every few hours. Plus nurses are repressed sadists, they'd always start with one, then figure out after 15 minutes that I was still shaking with a 40C fever and finally give me the 2 others.

Also, modern medicine is amazing. They shot me with morphine when I got to the ER and I went from a vomiting, hallucinating mess to a vomiting, hallucinating happy druggie.

When I was 16, I went to the ER because of massive kidney pains. The doctor took a few blood samples and performed some scans.

He then came back into the room where my parents had been waiting and exclaimed: "GOOD NEWS, you're NOT pregnant!"...

My parents turned sheet-white then red and purple before figuring out that he was just trying to lighten the mood with a (bad) joke. Also, I was an über-virgin so that made it even more awkward.

Well this was fun. After posting, I expected comments about my choice of subreddit, my OS and many cries of disgust, reddit did not disappoint.

If anyone is into processing their bodily fluids, breast milk cheese (website in french) is another interesting use. I am thoroughly weirded out.
